French flavour to boost carnival

Tuesday 16th June 2009, 10:42AM BST.

French market traders are being brought in to Kidderminster to help boost sales and encourage more visitors to the town.

The continental traders will take up stalls in Kidderminster’s Weavers Wharf for a three-day market, designed to coincide with the town’s carnival on Saturday.

Organisers hope that the touch of Parisian chic will encourage more people to shop locally and attract visitors from across the Midlands.

There will be special breads, provencal soaps, olives and hand made leather items as well as saucisson and pate from Normandy, sweets from Montelimar and toys for people to buy.

The three-day market will run from Thursday to Saturday in the Weavers Wharf Retail Park to coincide with the carnival.
