Blur have been discussing their forthcoming return to Wolverhampton as part of their reunion tour with Channel 4 News.

The Britpop stars will play the Civic Hall on June 24, ahead of shows in London, Manchester and the Glastonbury Festival.

Singer Damon Albarn says the region remains close to their heart, based on their early days experiences.

He says: “We played Dudley JBs. I don’t think any of us will ever forget it because it was the first time any of us ever drove back to London with some money.”

Graham Coxon remembers the Wolverhampton scene of the early 1990s: “It was a mini psychedelic movement, really, with a kind of indie dance thing. I think they were just really into that up there.

“They had all the haircuts… some of them looked like their had medieval haircuts.”
