Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Cech left in limbo with Albion
Friday 12th June 2009, 11:28AM BST.
Marek Cech could be stranded at Albion after hopes of a move to Celtic began to recede. And the Slovakia international could yet line up for the Baggies next season in the Championship.
Cech looked to be heading out of The Hawthorns after just one season, with Celtic favourites to end his miserable spell in the Midlands.
But the departure of Gordon Strachan and possible arrival of Baggies boss Tony Mowbray at Parkhead has dealt a major blow to the 26-year-old’s chances of a switch to Glasgow. Cech endured a tough first season at Albion, playing second-fiddle to the long-serving Paul Robinson at left-back for most of the campaign.
He started just three Premier League matches – only two in his favoured full-back role – and cut an increasingly frustrated figure by the end of the season.
And manager Mowbray revealed midway through the campaign some minor disciplinary problems had also undermined the former Porto man’s chances of forcing his way in the first team.
But Mowbray’s relationship with Mowbray and his coaching staff remained solid and it is understood they were willing to draw a line under last season’s events and hand Cech another chance at The Hawthorns, especially with Robinson desperate to move.
He was close to a loan move to Parkhead in January and was hoping for a move this summer.
But sources in Glasgow said the player’s wage demands had deterred the Bhoys from following up their interest even before the resignation of Strachan.

The biggest club in europe and if you believe their fans, the biggest in the world – can’t afford czech’s wages when a wee club in England – WEST BROMWICH ALBION – can pay him AND he is only a reserve team player.
NO WONDER CELTIC SAY THEY WON’T AFFORD THE COMPENSATION FOR TONY MOWBRAY!
THE FACT IS THEY CAN’T COS THEY THEY CAN’T AFFORD HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

Cech is not in “limbo”. With Robbo wanting out, he’ll get a game every week.

I’m just glad Mowbrays relationship with himself still solid. I pity the day they fall out.

I thourght he looked a decent player, he may not be the badge kisser like Robbo, but given a run of a few games in the CCL he should do ok.

In the eighties we had a brilliant team under Big Ron, a team that was capable of winning the league title but the Board interfered and sold Cunningham. Atkinson was so miffed by this that when United came after him he didn’t hesitate and took some of our best players. Again we have a good manager and again the board (JP) have stuck their oar in and told TM that he must cut his squad from 31 players to just 20 and still expect him to win promotion! I would imagine that TM is so frustrated that a move on is the only solution. Perhaps JP should sit down with TM and sort the situation out even meeting him half-way!
I have a 5hr round trip to the Hawthorns and if TM does go then I may be tempted to send my season ticket back.

If he wants out I think Wolves should offer 500k. Robinson over him was one of many reasons why you finished bottom and went down. 3 internationals coming to Wolves next week Tezza and we will have more points than albion finished with by early April.

the thing is out of all this is Mowbray wants to leave, why do you think he’s been so quiet.
Cause no talks would take place if he didn’t..
If we don’t let him go, his heart won’t be in the job anyway..
The longer it goes on the worse it is for the club..

Sir Terry, don’t turn on TM just yet mate. Give him the benefit of the doubt. He is still our manager, we pay his salary, JP is showing his mettle and everyone who has criticised him in the past should now realise what a fine Chairman he is. NOTHING has changed as yet and now probably won’t. TM has always come across as totally honest so would he want to work with a club that tries to do business via the Press and TV ? I think not. He must be bitterly disappointed in Celtic, especially as he was hero-worshipped up there. The only people to still look honourable in this lot is West Bromwich Albion. I’m with TM completely in not getting involved up to now. He’d be on a double loser.

Nothing to do with this story but…
For Ned and all the other connoiseurs of that fine fotball pundit Laughing Wolf.
What a difference a day makes. Read and enjoy.
June 11 2.26pm.
Fantastic signing., has been widely tipped to one day break into the full England squad. Can play left back or left midfield and has plenty of pace. Birmingham chuck silly money at players but our club is run better and has a lot more attractions than blues. Milijas and the frenchman are next and could be announced tomorrow.
June 12 12.00pm
Blues are a joke. The lad preferred to move to a bigger club who won the league but blues bribe him with more 6k more than their original offer lol. No wonder they have such a turn-over of players they only go for money, lay in front of half empty stadiums on sunday league pitches. Not really improving on what we got but would have been a good squad player, Milijas, Zuluma and Hahnemman next. Blues are going down!
I can’t take any credit for the grammar, spelling or punctuation, all his own work. There are so many things I’d like to comment on in the content but it could only detract from the comic effect of a true genius.
