Wolves speeding away for boss

He admits that the side’s progress in the 2009 Elite League has surprised him.

The Parrys International Wolves sit just off the top spot, a point behind Swindon with a match in hand, and can regain their place at the summit on Monday if they win their home match against Eastbourne.

Adams said: “We’d always planned this. Get halfway through and give the boys a fortnight off to recharge the batteries, freshen up the engines and we’ll be back.

“We’re ahead of the game at the minute. I didn’t expect us to be where we are – I don’t think anybody did.

“There has been tremendous improvement in some departments of the team and that’s the bedrock of what could be a very good season.

“But there’s a long way to go.”

Wolves’ resurgence has seen vital contributions at heat leader, where Fredrik Lindgren is enjoying a breakthrough season.

In the ‘engine room’ at numbers three and four, youngster Tai Woffinden and the experienced Adam Skornicki are scoring heavily and consistently.

Double-up reserve Ty Proctor has also impressed when available and Adams confirmed that he now has first call on the role shared with Chris Kerr.

Of the Australian’s contribution to last week’s home win over Lakeside, the manager said: “I thought Proctor was a star.

“He’s clearly in better form than Chris Kerr at the minute and until that changes then I think we need to use him at every opportunity that presents itself.”
