An 87-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car outside Stafford Hospital.

The pensioner was outside the entrance to the hospital at around 7.30pm on Saturday evening, when she was knocked down by a Vauxhall Corsa.

She was rushed into the hospital and treated for injuries to her head and pelvis, but died at around 7am yesterday.

The pensioner has not yet been named by police.

Sergeant Dean Walker, from Staffordshire Police, said: “It appears that a silver Vauxhall Corsa driven by a 20-year-old female was turning into the hospital from Weston Road when it collided with a female pedestrian.”
