Convicted rapist jailed for move

Friday 5th June 2009, 10:40AM BST.

A convicted Wolverhampton rapist has been given a 12-month suspended jail sentence after he moved house without telling police.

Carlton Gordon, of Russet Walk, Pendeford, admitted failing to notify authorities of his change of address at the beginning of April.

The 26-year-old, who was convicted of rape in 1998, breached the requirements of the sex offenders register by failing to notify police of a change of address within three days of moving, prosecutor Rhiannon Jones told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

This was the fourth time he had breached the order after failing to tell police he had moved in 2001, 2005 and 2007.

Gordon was now back with his partner living in a council flat approved by police, the court heard.

He was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and a 12-month supervision order.
