Celebs and PC brigade are the winners

It seems like celebs can get away with anything while decent hard-working folk get hampered at every turn by the PC brigade, writes Charlie Cashdan.

I’ve just read all about the antics of Sasha Baron Cohen’s latest ‘comic’ creation Bruno when he had a skirmish with a charity worker.  He turned up at a charity bingo event as part of his new film to be a celebrity guest and call out the bingo numbers.

When his language and behaviour became, as she described, offensive and vulgar, she tried to take back the microphone. He allegedly struggled with her physically causing her to fall onto the floor and run from the room in floods of tears.

The lady then claims she was so upset she suffered another fall on the way out, hit her head, passed out and has suffered brain bleeds ever since leaving her confined to a wheel chair!

If this incident is true, how can this be right? She was a charity worker, an ordinary decent person who just didn’t want people to have to listen to rude humour which might offend them.  She’s paid a high price for this action.

On the other hand, we have the story of a teacher who was so infuriated by the inane sniggering of teenage pupils in his class that he showed them a Beavis and Butthead cartoon in the hope of showing them how silly their behaviour was.

This seems quite innovative to me and at least he was using his imagination rather than just taking the endless crap teachers have to put up with.  But no, he was dragged off to a disciplinary hearing and found guilty of misconduct – what a surprise!  The experts ruled that he had ‘behaved and spoke inappropriately’

So what about the pupils, their behaviour and the message this sends to them?  What consequences will they face?  And what consequences will Cohen face for purposely behaving and speaking inappropriately and allegedly causing upset and personal injury?  A multi-million pound pay cheque from a film which I’m guessing those sniggering teenage pupils will love!
