Bloxwich skipper hungry for respect
Wednesday 3rd June 2009, 7:00AM BST.
Bloxwich skipper Matt Langston has challenged his side to repeat their stunning form every week to keep gaining respect.
Their eight-wicket demolition of Hammerwich on Saturday delighted Langston, who has urged them to keep going after bowling out their hosts for 117 before reaching 121-2.
He said: “It was a pretty awesome bowling and fielding performance and I said to them in the dressing room, they’ve set the standard now and that’s what we’ve got to look for every week.
“People are showing us more respect and it’s deserved.”
Aaron Allcock’s 3-20 set the tone as Iqbal Masood claimed 3-44, with Jim Lewis (2-13) and Maroof Azam (1-26) also chipping in.
Danny King hit 61 and Hammerwich captain Brian Fisher admitted his side didn’t deserve anything out of the game.
He conceded: “We deserved to get beaten. We weren’t in the game, all credit has to go to Bloxwich.”
