Britain’s Got Talent pair will give it all

Saturday 30th May 2009, 10:53AM BST.

Two Midland performers preparing for the grand final of Britain’s Got Talent today both vowed to give it their all to win the hit TV competition.

Lichfield singer Shaun Smith told the Express & Star he was “feeling confident” ahead of tonight’s showdown, while Halesowen saxophonist Julian Smith said he hoped to be at “the top of his game.”

More than 15 million people are expected to see tonight’s final in which the pair will go up against each other and eight other contestants, including bookies’ favourite Susan Boyle, for the chance of a £100,000 first prize and to perform in front of The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Shaun, aged 17, a keen rugby player and student at Lichfield’s Friary School pupil, said today: “I’m confident that I’ll give a good performance.

“Nobody knows who is going to win, but I’m going to go out there and give it everything.”

Shaun, who has wowed judges with his singing voice, said that he could not reveal what song he would be performing tonight.

Halesowen music teacher and father-of-two Julian, 40, of Oliver Close, said: “Everybody is presuming it’s going to be Susan Boyle to win but we have all got to be at the top of our game.”
