Winner McCarthy praises his staff

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy hailed his backroom staff after winning the League Managers’ Association’s Championship man-ager of the year award.

McCarthy was quick to praise his unsung heroes such as long-serving coach, assistant Terry Connor, lieutenant Ian Evans and chief scout Dave Bowman after picking up the award in Nottingham in recognition of Wolves’ title-winning success.

“Of course it’s a team effort and I’m sure every manager who wins awards would say the same,” said McCarthy.

“I’m the manager but I also work with a superb backroom staff and each and every one of them have played a major part in our success this season.” McCarthy was also delighted to be recognised by his peers.

“I’m delighted to win the award,” he said. “It’s a real honour and even more so when it’s something that is voted for by your peers.

“You compete against them all season long and so to receive their plaudits at the end is great.

“It’s just the same as the players getting voted into the PFA team at the end of the season.”

The award is McCarthy’s second personal gong after being recognised by the Midlands Football Writers and it comes on the back of several accolades for the team’s achievements this season.

Three Wolves players – more than any other team – Richard Stearman, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake – were voted into the PFA Championship’s team of the year, while Ebanks-Blake retained the Championship’s Golden Boot for his 25 goals.

ok – fine – good, great, thanks – in my business if we hit annual targets we get a bonus and meeting where we pat each other on the back at the start – this has been going on for ages.

can we have more on the work being done now and for the future, and see these signings rolling….

In case you had not noticed number 1 this was an end of season dinner and coincidentally it is the end of the season now bar the FA Cup Final. Nothing will happen signings wise for a few more weeks….NO PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Just sit back and enjoy the speculation that keeps being thrown our way!

The 3 M’s have it all under control. they play thier cards close to thier chest which is a good thing because then the club wont be bank rolled for over inflated premadona’s in last chance saloon!

Chillax and enjoy the sun…it could be worse you could be staring down the barrel of no manager, no players and no shirt sponsors!

Well done Mick.I think he should milk this award for all he can.Managers are only a couple of defeats away from mass protests at the best of times.I had to smile last night seeing Man Utd fans interviewed after their defeat. One guy said they would have been alright if only the manager was capable of picking the correct team.
