When nine-year-old Daniel Duffield first played his harmonica in front of new puppy Max, he thought the pooch had gone mad.

But the singing and dancing routine performed by the mini Yorkshire Terrier every time he hears the instrument now has the Willenhall school boy hoping the dog will eventually have his day on Britain’s Got Talent.

The New Invention Primary pupil, who lives with him mum Melody, dad David and six-year-old sister Chelsea in Trinity Road, Short Heath, said he was shocked at the animal’s reaction when it first heard the strains of his harmonica.

“It just went mad,” he said. “He starts doing this funny barking and starts jumping and dancing around.

“We’ve only had the dog a few months, but he seems to love it. I think he’s really talented and I just wish we’d gone on Britain’s Got Talent together.

“I think we’ll have to do it next year. We’ve had other dogs in the past, but none of them have ever done anything like it.”

His father, 44-year-old David, said the dog’s antics had been entertaining family and friends over the last few months.

“Everyone thinks it’s great,” he said. “As soon as Daniel picks up the harmonica and plays a tune, he starts doing all sorts.

“We’ve had Yorkshire Terriers for more than 20 years now and never seen anything like it.

“It’s a bit late for this year now, but I think they should definitely have a go on Britain’s Got Talent next time.”

David and Max would not be the first man and dog duo to have tried their luck on the hit ITV show, Britain’s Got Talent.
