Man seriously injured outside home

Thursday 28th May 2009, 12:04PM BST.

A driver who feared his car was being vandalised was left in intensive care after confronting a man outside his Kidderminster home.

Police are appealing for information about the attack which happened after the victim heard a loud bang outside his Chester Road North home and went to check on his car.

He noticed a man on the opposite pavement who crossed the road to confront him before assaulting him.

The victim suffered serious face and neck injuries, including a wound which required stitches. He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance, where he spent two days in intensive care before being discharged. He is still receiving medical treatment following the attack on May 16.

The attacker, a white man aged around 20, had been standing on the pavement with a woman.

He walked off in the direction of Lorne Street following the assault at around 10.25pm.

He is described as 5ft 10 tall, of average build with short, brown hair. He was wearing dark jeans, and a light coloured top with blue or black hoops on it.

The woman he was with was around the same age, white, about 5ft 2, stocky, with blonde, medium length hair. She was wearing a light coloured, long sleeved jacket.

Kidderminster Pc Jonnie Martin said: “The victim is obviously quite distressed about what happened. This was a nasty, unprovoked attack and we would like to talk to anyone who saw or heard this incident.

“We also want to hear from anyone who can help us trace the offender or the woman he was with.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 0300 333 3000 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously and free on 0800 555 111.
