Passengers injured in bus crash
Tuesday 26th May 2009, 3:32PM BST.
Passengers were taken to hospital after a bus crashed in Bloxwich today.
The single-decker, which bore the name of now-defunct A2Z Travel but was operating for Choice Travel, also left a tree lying across the pavement in Ingram Road after the accident at around 12.30pm.
A number of passengers on the 329 service were taken to hospital with minor bumps and bruises, but none were thought to be seriously injured.
Ingram Road resident Sally Mills, aged 35, said: “I was just looking out for my husband, who was due home from work, when I heard a bang.
“I came outside to see what was happening just as the police and fire engines were coming up the road.” Another resident, who did not want to be named, found the tree lying in front of her home
“I was out the back when I just happened to look out of the window and saw a tree lying outside the front gate,” she said.
“Then I saw the bus next to it. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
Walsall Council workers arrived to remove the fallen tree within an hour of the smash.
A2Z Travel went into administration last month. The company, which ran routes around Wolverhampton and the Black Country, was forced off the roads around six months after having its licence revoked. Choice could not be contacted.
