Albion boss Tony Mowbray has been made favourite to take over from Gordon Strachan as Celtic manager.

The Baggies boss is the 3-1 favourite to move into the Parkhead hotseat.

Albion fans – Do you think Mowbray will stay at The Hawthorns? Do you want him to stay? Do you think the lure of managing in the Champions League would prove too strong a temptation?

Post your comments below.

To be honest I am torn on this one.

TM has started a rebuild at the Albion and having been to a couple of forums with TM his passion for finishing something he has started goes without saying.
on the other hand, It’s Celtic… was he not a former player who is much loved in Scotland, assured of managing a team in the Champions league every season, a huge club with worldwide fanbase.

Ok so I could manage Celtic or Rangers and its not much of a challenge its certain that either Celtic or Rangers will win the league every year!!.

But should TM decide to go to Celtic (and he has not been offered the job lets remember)then we will get another manager in . There has been life after Big Ron, Ronnie Allen, Jonny Giles, Ossie Ardilles Gary Megson etc….

I like TM’s style of play but at the end of the day Players and Managers come and go as with any club its the fans that ARE the club.

I would like him to stay, I feel with a better front & back line we would have no problem surviving in the Premier League.

Who knows though, after Paul Robinson has declared he “can’t face Championship football again” they might well be going together!

if i were tony and offered that position, and with a club that does have money to provide new players to be the champions next year, i would move, Albion O K but as i have seen over the last 12 years, they will never be a top flight premiership outfit, unless they can attract foreign owners with money to pump in, they have tried in the past and failed, so yes i would leave and try a outfit with a lot more ambition and flare

The national media have seized on this one – relegated club, not much money to spend, lure of his former club etc etc….but they are putting TM in the same category as the majority of the greedy, limelight seeking managers out there, and he isn’t.
I would be astonished if a man of his integrity jumped ship at this stage.
Robbo on the other hand…..here we go again…perhaps any prospective new clubs would like to take a look at the “highlights” of our season and see just how many goals conceded he was responsible for.

These job offers do not come along too often and Tony will need to balance the pros and cons before making a decision. The pressure of returning to the Premier League against the pressure of winning the SPL. Will he want to move his young family again? Does he feel he owes the Albion the same loyalty we have given him?

Being honest, I’d be totally gutted if Mowbray went. I’ll admit, I’m a huge Mowbray fan, I love what he’s trying to do, his philosophy and the humility of the guy in general. I really feel there’s something special being built at Albion, of which Mowbray is an integral part, and him going would mean we have to start from square one all over again… new manager, new stlye of play, new players etc etc

Having said that, life goes on. As Baggie Boy mentioned managers come and go, but the fans will always remain.

I sincerely hope he stays, but wish him all the best if he goes.

I’m sorry, but I really don’t want Tony Mowbray as Celtic manager. He’s a damn nice guy, adored by our fans and likes to place nice football but I don’t think he is the right man. I won’t rule out the board making a move for him but it will clearly state where the club are going if they do appoint a man like Mowbray, McGhee, Levein or McCarthy.

I Am A TM fan, I believe he has the Potential to become one of the top managers in the game. He is doing some great work at WBA but he hasn’t finished yet. The fans have supported him and I believe that TM will repay that loyalty by finishing the job and restoring the club to a sustainable position in the premiership.

    its been a while!!

now work commitments have died down slightly I can get myself back into the swing of things on here and waste my time more effectively.

I would be rather heartbroken, to say the least, to see ToMo leave the Hawthorns, although I wouldn’t blame him.
We haven’t fulfilled his style of play this season and as any job goes, if you don’t fulfil your managers standards you ent gonna get much back off him, I just hope we don’t end up with Strachan!! I wouldn’t mind seeing Alex Fergusons (son/nephew whoever he is) joining the ranks if so, his a sure fire potential with what his done at Peterborough.
If he does move on I’d wish him all the best.
As for Robbo, I also wish him the best, sure his had his transfer rumours in the past with the Wigan move failing as well but he has always given 100% for us, I can still remember him putting his foot through a sponsorship boarding a few seasons back. It would just be a shame for him to go to Wolves, I hope he has more sense as they aren’t guaranteed survival.

Heres hoping we get Barry Ferguson in!

I cannot understand the adulation we have for TM.He has mde basic errors all the time—not replacing KP and ZG—buying Luke Less and Valero and generally being responsible for a wasted season and even worse for the poorest squad we have hsd in years. Added to that the Fizzy next year will be harder than ever and we need a proper manager who understands that good defending tackling in midfield and strikers who score are fundamental—Oh and getting the ball quickly to your frontmen as well. TM does not believe in the above—I do

I think by keeping the faith we will see just how good a manager he can be, think about it, we scored over 100 goals with him last year in the Fizzy, what more can you ask for? If we become a club who throws the dummy out the pram when we don’t get what we want then we’ll go nowhere and no managers will want to come to us! Just look at Newcastle.

Could be a case of, Better the Devil you know than the Devil you dont.
While there are some good out of work managers out there, Roy Keane, Alan Curbishly springs to mind, would they really want to work for Mr Peace, bearing in mind he has stated there is no money available.

I rarely say I’ll be gutted if a manager / player etc moves on, but I actually would be gutted if he did go.

I don’t think he will go though personally, I see this more as the press putting 2 and 2 together and hoping it makes 4 instead of knowing it will.

I doubt TM would leave when he’s halfway through his re-building at the Shrine and instead he’d want to stay and see the fruition of his hard work from top to bottom.

I would like him to stay but as a number of posts have pointed out players and managers come and go but us fans are the heart of the club. Mowbray does seem to be a man of integrity but if we are approached and JP gives him permission to speak with them I fear he may move on. If he does go Ferguson or Roberto Martinez at Swansea would be my choices. As for Robinson, I can’t believe he has such a staus amongs Albion fans, look at how many goals we conced from his wing I rest my case. Good riddance to the badge kissing moron, a poor footballer and a liability to the team.

looks like we might be after another manager very soon at least if TM does go we have plenty of time to get another one in place before the season starts.has for robbo why is it when we get relegated he his the first who wants to jump ship it happened the last time and the only reason he his still here is because he failed a medical at wigan,if that is the way he his thinking at the moment let him go sooner the better in my mind he isnt a premier player anyway and would suit bolton just fine .

    Yes, Yes, and No.

Though we may not have “Finishers” up front yet, we’ve got one right behind us in TM.

Personally I don’t think Mowbray will go, yes celtic are a massive club however year after year the SPL is getting worse and as for Champions League football Celtic and Rangers don’t often get past the group stage’s!! If I was Mowbray I would stay as the prospect of yourselves bouncing back up again are good I suppose the ultimate question is for TM is at xmas 2009 would you rather be in a promotion battle or in a dull league after being knocked out of the champions league thats even if they qualify for it!! all the best next season

I’m Scottish, live in Wolverhampton, and supported Celtic since 1967 from a distance and the Baggies from a decade later.

Personally, I think Mowbray is more suited to Celtic Park than the Hawthorns but the central question will be the financial state of both clubs – I don’t see Mowbray liking being ‘restricted’ in terms of bringing in players.

I know ToMo has made mistakes and I was really confident we’d stay up this season, but there are some obvious mitigating circumstances.

    1. We had the lowest wage bill in the Prem. Add to that, all players must have a relegation salary reduction clause, it’s easy to see how difficult it is to bring in Prem quality players to WBA.

    2. Mowbray did not have final say on all players brought in (Luke Moore for 1)

    3. Millers injury didn’t help.

Now, considering the above, assuming ToMo does go, who do we get in that can do a better job when considering the financial structure of the club and that Peace has a habit of making managers dislike him… A lot.

For all his flaws, I do believe that ToMo is the very best we can get considering the way we have to be run as a football club. Who can we get in to do a better job? No-one with a decent track record would come as they have a permanent disadvantage when ever we go up, so the only way to survive in the Prem, first time round (financially speaking), is to seriously over achieve..

It didn’t take long for TM to sympathise with Robbo’s position did it ? . He’s been a weakness all season. As far as TM moving to Celtic he knows the fans love him but he must be allowed the choice to stay or go. I don’t think he is the type of bloke you can dictate to.. If he does go get Matrin Jol who still loves the club.

Not having a pop at your lot BUT If the rumour mill (Radio WM) that seems to point at TM having to use a “squad of 20″ in the Chumpionship and they are JP’s choices not TM’s – Dont be surprised that TM chooses to walk away

Any manager (with a backbone) would not want the CEO/ Chairman/ Owner picking the squad and having to live or die with the results (sounds like Newcastle when they had Dangermouse – eh Dennis (Not so) Wise

I hope is all just paper talk and wish you good luck next season

Please dont go Tony! U have still got a job 2 do here. You said u dont leave until youv’e accomplished ur mission.
We need 2 keep this guy, just hope he gets his final say as he put it. I hope im right in saying why would he want 2 go 2 a big fish in a small pond?? One of the most boaring leagues in the world as opposed 2 aiming 2 get back in the most exciting league in the world. As pundits say, Celtic/Rangers would struggle in premiership and their side is probably not a million miles better than ours. I remember a Rangers fan I know came 2 the last home game against Wolves with me and she actually said the pace & way we play would leave SPL teams baffled!

The best manager I’ve known at Hawthorns, its Peace that holds us back! He should stay loyal as we have 2 him and hopefuly this time next year we will have forgot all about this rumour and Mowbray will be celebrating promotion again with a bit of chocolate :) Theres only one Tony Mowbray!! I personally hope Tony stays and has another go next season at getting us straight back up, unfortunately though i fear the temptation may be too strong.

That then leaves us with the problem who replaces him rumor has it that after the job he has done at St Johnstone this year Derek Mcinnes has a number of admirers on the Albion Board with is managerial career being watched.

Another thought to throw the cat amongst the pigeons how about a straight swop with Gordon Strachen coming to us.

Stranger things have happened in football

Hopefully though we will see no change

None of us would fail to have our heads turned by more money to spend better wages to have and to offer and the lure of Champions League football. However at Celtic there are only 4 challenging matches each year in the SPL. The Championship success we had in 07/08 and the FA Cup Semi at Wembley surpassed anything Celtic achieved domestically.
Mowbray may have played 4 years up there and be loved but I think as an Englishman he will want to succeed in his career in England and he would be better placed to continue that building at the Hawthorns. The lessons he claims to have learnt this season will never be proven to be learnt if he goes to Celtic because he could get away without it in the Domestic scene and he could get lucky or have a learning excuse in the champions league.
If he does go I would be gutted and Darren Ferguson would be the only progressive choice for JP, though I wonder if DF would be interested.
