Wolves rule out Huddlestone bid

Tottenham Hotspur's Tom Huddlestone celebrates after scoring
Wolves have declared ‘no deal’ over the chance to sign Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone after hearing he would cost £8m.

Boss Mick McCarthy has moved on in his search after being quoted the mega-bucks price for the one-time Molineux loan man, who only signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane last summer.
McCarthy is in the market to sign experienced Premier League players, but won’t be held to ransom by huge prices and wages.
The Championship title-winning boss has also been linked with relegated Newcastle midfield pair Nicky Butt and Alan Smith, but their £60,000-a-week wages have contributed to the fact they have been swiftly rejected as potential Molineux signings this summer.
Wolves had been linked with former Derby midfielder Huddlestone, who played 13 games in gold and black in the 2005-06 season under Glenn Hoddle.
Huddlestone is also known to Wolves players Michael Kightly, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Richard Stearman from the England under-21 set-up.
But McCarthy won’t be going back for the powerful midfielder after hearing how much he would cost.
Huddlestone is believed to be one of several players Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is prepared to cash in on this summer as he seeks an improvement on this season’s eighth placed finish in the Premier League table.
But his destination won’t be Molineux if he moves on from White Hart Lane this summer.
Midfield is one of the areas McCarthy is known to want to strengthen before the big kick-off.
McCarthy won’t entertain the sort of financially draining signings claiming one last pay day.
Much more realistic will be people who possess the ‘legs and lungs’ to be a threat at the top level.
The 50-year-old Molineux chief has returned from a two-week long Europe-wide scouting mission, but is keeping the identities of his targets close to his chest to avoid alerting rival clubs to his activities.
Wolves scouts have been active all over the country watching Premier League games and matches abroad since the Championship season finished three weeks ago.

a real shame as i think he is exactley what we need, also it would show our intent, i know we need to be sensible, but other players may look at this as lack of ambition, i mean this to sound negative because you cant really judge until all the signings have been made, and its quite a long way from the start of the season, (allthough board has put pressure on themselves by saying things like learnt lesson form not spending last time, and they are going to strike while the irons hot)
I’d easily accept £8 million for him. He’s exactly what we need.
We gotta make some bravado moves, but I agree, there’ll be players overpriced and overrated.
But 8m for a young powerful and talented premier league quality midfielder with potential to become a full england international? Sounds good to me.
It’s a Shame.
I appreciate them (Wolves) not want to spend big money on players at the end of there career. However, if they are bulking at £8m for a player with the current market at a (silly) high. Who will we sign? At the end of the season, a statement was made saying we would splash the cash. Now I applaued them for not paying for the likes of Nicky Butt and co. But I think Huddlestone would have been a good buy. Most of the time in the over the top prices in football world you get what you pay for I am afraid.
The first major disappointment of the summer.. but this will be the first of many. All the talk of a team going nowhere!
I think this is a really weak move.. yes we don’t want to get ripped off, but class comes with a price!
Gents, he isnt worth that much, maybe 4 mill yes, i would pay 4 mill for nolan from newcastle and 4 mill for huddleston, he isnt worth 8 million. We cold get sidwell for less and james harper Better value for money out there im afraid but if theprice drops then yes. 8 Mill for him and zakora, but please no nicky butt
Report abuse
how cheap are wolves being we need to buy 8 mil for him is nothing stop being so cheap and buy somebody i can see mick doing an albion buying all these foreign players we never heard of for cheap
Report abuse
If this is true then I am disappointed he won’t be coming here, yes £8m is a lot of money but is about right for his talent and experience and Huddlestone fits McCarthy’s young, hungry and experienced profile. We have the money in the pot and if any area needs additional recruitment its centre midfield and centre defence, this won’t come cheap and I think we would be making a mistake in not going in for Huddlestone
PS is Morgan on Holiday or is this his or Moxey’s decision?
I think Morgan, MM and Moxey need to get real to be honest. What sort of proven premiership performers are you going to get for say, 2-3 million on £20k a week? Not many thats for sure.
Rumours in Norway says that Wolves are going for Tromsø striker Morten Moldskred. He’s very fast and a great goalscorer. Aged 29 he’ve scored 33 goals in the Norwegian Premier League.
It is all a guessing game at the minute.I hope they will be prepared to pay £8 million for the right player ,if necessary.A scout has come on this site a couple of times, saying he recommended Huddlestone as a kid to the Wolves, but the then Academy manager said we already had too many midfield players on our books. So paying £8million for someone we could have got for nothing would be a bit expensive.
If huddlestone was as good as some on here say then redknap would want to keep him.. £8mill for a player who coudnt get a regular slot in a team that spent most of the season at the foot of the table? please do be serious …the golden tit days are long gone…look whats happened to newcastle paying over the odds for over rated plaers
Report abuse
huddlestone is over rated and is definatley not worth 8 million and according to my spurs mates he,s hardly performed anywhere near the level needed in the premier and i,m happy he’s not coming here
Report abuse
Well not unexpected,Moxley for all his comments in the press about having to sign Premiership Quality has given the fans a sign of whats on the horizon, sub standard players ex Premplayers on the cheap.Huddlestone is just the sort of player that fits Wolves criteria young, talented, skilfull very sad about the ambition of the people running Wolves.
Good Luck for next season. It is difficult to attract quality players at reasonable prices when the teams that get promoted are normally favourites to come back down again. To be prudent, future contracts need to reflect the league the players are in. Huddlestone would want 35k a week minimum to leave London and training in Chigwell – that sort of deal puts the players who got you to The Prem knocking on big Micks door .
looks like your man aint go no money after all, hope your looking forward to a season long struggle, aye boing boing yam skint
Report abuse
It’s not important who we don’t sign, it’s all about who we do sign.
It’s a judgement call by Mick and Jez – Value for Money seems the policy.
That doesn’t mean penny pinching. It is value for money sense to spend £10m on a player we rate above £10m rather than £8m on a player we rate below £8m.
You never know, we might just have the £10m player in mind.
8 mill. If you can’t afford that bargain basement opportunity for Thud or someone similar then you’ll be going straight back down me thinks.
Maybe Mick is still hankering after Mancienne but
he would not come much cheaper. Maybe this is a first sign that Mick is not a Premiere Manager? the old saying springs to mind “Pay peanuts get monkeys”
For me even at 8m we should consider Huddlestone, however I am sure MM and Jez Moxey are working hard to get the right players in
Report abuse
Gotta agree that Hudd’s would be a great signing, young hungry etc.. Exactly the type of player we are looking to continue recruiting along with some older heads..
£8m is expensive but considering all the fctors i don’t feel that he is massively overpriced, it shows some real ambition as well..
How true this is who knows but my concern is that if it is and we turn down this sort of deal, we may end up with two midfielders for £8m but of what quality????
ultimately if he is available and would come to us then we should get him..
Perhaps £5/6m with clauses such as staying in the prem, goals scored, assists etc….
I haven’t heard of any other interest from any other teams yet so need to hit the panic button yet.
Maybe Jez is playing the waiting game to see if anyone else is willing to make a bid for him. At £8m he is about £2-3m overpriced, and Redknapp HAS to sell players to finance other moves.
Just because we need some Premiership players doesn’t mean we have to steam in like mugs to get them, and Moxey is a canny operator in transfer dealings.
We’ll see how much Redknapp thinks he’s worth if another week goes by and no-one has bitten at £8m.
Personally I’d say £6m tops and we can start talking. You have to take into account his wages in any deal as well and he’s bound to be be on at least £30k per week.
How dim are some of the people on here? Obviously they want Wolves to splash out way over the odds as they don’t have to foot the ticket price that will result because they are armchair “supporters”.
If Liverpool value Gareth Barry (an established England player with 10 years of PL experience) at a maximum of £9m; I’ll be damned if Wolves are going to pay more than £4m for an unproven, bit-part Spurs player in Huddlestone.
£8m is obviously a bit on the high end but not far off, for a young player too it would be a good deal. i agree not getting the likes of butt who are on big money and nearing the end of their careers. we have the cash from morgan and the premiership money, the club are ripping off fans with ticket prices (thank god for the earlybird deal), so we can and need to spend this sort of money on a few good young players.
Huddleston can produce ‘killer’ passes in the box which EB and the rest would thrive on. But 8 million is rediculous and I would not be surprised if he came for a more reasonable 4 million plus add ons. Remember most premier league teams are up to their nexks in debt, there is a ‘credit crunch’ so season tickets will be a problem. Harry asking for 8 million is trying to draw out the idiot managers and not canny charactors like Mick.
22
Err hasnt Barry only got one year left on his contract and Huddlestone four please compare like with like
Report abuse
Whilst Huddlestone would be a good signing for us, at £8M he is too expensive and has only little Prem experience.
I would think McCarthy is looking at players in the £4-6M bracket which would obviously not get us the best but should get us players who would do a job and hopefully keep us in the Premiership?
I don’t like the idea of attracting foreign players with little or indeed no experience of the Premiership, as these types of players are always found wanting when the chips are down and Wolves cannot afford to spend money on flops, we’ve been down that road before and we all know what happened!
Keeping to British born players should help but at what they will cost is the problem.
Lokking at the big picture, if an entire squad of say 22 players were to be on £15,000 per week that would come to a little over £17M for the season and when you add transfers to that amount, you can see where the money will be going. Adding big transfers will only rock the boat and all the good work done to date could be lost.
We must keep things in perspective which may not please most people but should we survive next season in the Prem, who would argue with the decisions that were taken, I for one would not!
£8 million would be good business, quality player, who would hold his value too
Report abuse
£8m is the going value. Stop faffing about and sign him.
15……pratt.
If he’s worth 8 million, he’s increased his ability 4-fold since he was here with us.
8 million to buy = mega salary, and not just for him! Not worth busting the wage structure that much.
Move on.
15. Terry Boggie, you are clearly hurting from your season of pain.
Please look after yourself over the summer, get your enthusiasm back and venture down to the Hawthorns for your Rola Cola Championship extravaganza. Enjoy and….belong.
He’s always suggested to me that he ought to be better than he actually turns out to be, in reality. On balance not worth going for.
Spend £8m on players who deliver.
Good comment by soggy-wolf re’ Barry being valued at £9m, although I reckon that is in part due to the fact that he is in the last year of his contract.
Revising my thoughts re’ Hudds’… Would love to see him at the Mol’ but considering wage demands as well, he’ll be on prob’ £1.5m a year (£30k pw) so could prove very costly..
I do likethe fact that he hs been here before and knows the U21 lads as well so already has a certain understanding of the club and some of it’s players…
Report abuse
I can’t believe some of the moronic comments on here. 13 is a classic example.
The 3 M’s have done some great business in the transfer market and we have to trust them to continue. Do these idiots expect them to conduct their business in the papers which will only inflate prices and alert other teams to who is available. It takes time to negotiate each deal so please try and use some brain cells and stop criticising the fact that we haven’t made a signing yet. The Premier season only finished yesterday. The best way to do business is that we only know once the deal is done.
Surely they have earned some patience from even the most gormless, negative morons that come on here and describe themselves as fans.
15 – Enjoy your time in the Championship and long may it last.
He, he, he, he!!
on the cheap again, i was told weeks ago that all the splutter coming out the club about spending was a load of rubbish…looks like i might be right
Report abuse
£8 million is a fair chuck of cash IMHO Wolves will have around £30 million to spend so spending nearly a third of your transfer budget on one player may be abit mad, now if Spurs come down to around £4 million then yes time to do business.
if we want to stay in the premiership you have to pay the money, its no good trying to do it on the cheap, we’ve tried that before it didnt work, just ask that lot down the road aswell, how much did they think spurs would want for huddlestone 2 to 3 million , come on wolves get real we’re in the big league now , not the tinpot chumpionship
Report abuse
Its no wonder spurs are trying to get a ridiculous 8 mil for someone who has never proved to be a good player at spurs or whilst playing at wolves. Didn’t they pay 16.5 mil for Darren Bent? that was good bit of business. Some people on here would have us spending tens of millions on players just to make a headline. Its doesn’t matter the price tag. Henry cost arsenal 8 million whist berbatov cost manU 30 mil, I know who I’d rather have.
Also the season hasn’t even started no ones been signed and your slagging of MM. The man who got us to the prem despite some saying he couldn’t do it. Hope your not going to the games this season we need REAL supports
Report abuse
8mil is overpriced and anyways Huddlestones injured atm he may miss the u21s so who knows whether he’d be fit for the start of the season
Report abuse
All I keep hearing is players that wolves are NOT signing! What happened 2 the big spenders??

Oh and what about the not so good signings like,Potter,Ward,Shackell,Eastwood,Berra,Mulgrew, Bothroyd,Elliot,Hill
Report abuse
Looks a bit suspect to me. No quotes from Mick, Jez or Redknapp. Its just another story from e&s to get us to buy their paper.
If we keep on dropping good prospective new signing we end up with nothing. Let us not forget that now everybody is looking and our head start we had is now lost.
I hope Mike knows what he is doing?

Its just another Express and Star Rumour, theres no quotes from any wolves representative so how do they know weve rulled out the signing?
Wolfhound – you are clearly not a fan.
You will not find 1 manager who has 100% success with signings and the end result of the last 3 years is that we went up as Champions.
If that doesn’t make you happy then find yourself another hobby such as chewing bricks.
Let’s go through the “bad” signings you have quoted :-
Potter – £250k – always did ok but no longer in the plans.
Ward – small free – done well at left back.
Shackell – £1m+ – not seen enough to judge but doesn’t fit in.
Eastwood – £1.5m – poor but we got our money back
Berra – £2.3m – tightened up defence at critical stage of season. You have shown how little you know by putting this one in.
Mulgrew – part of Naylor deal – rarely played but rated at Aberdeen.
Bothroyd – free – some useful contributions, a bit lazy
Elliott – £1m+ – not good but we got rid and got some money plus Hill
Hill – part of Elliott deal – look at our defensive record when he played.
If you don’t want to support the team – the best we have had in 25 plus years then do one.
Why be so negative you sad little man.
You expect to pay £8M for an automatic starter who turns out and turns it on every week.
Huddlestone is a squad man. An occasional player who always looks lethargic and something of a passenger.
Spurs are looking to improve their squad for next season and want to clear out their ‘deadwood’.
Can’t understand why we even made an enquiry.
Great player but the price tag is a joke.
Hopefully we can negotiate a lower fee with Spurs, however the likes of Villa can afford to pay more than Wolves and it depends on whether he’d want to return to Wolves.
this is all pointless anyway as huddlestone would easily walk into the villa or everton teams, he will have many suitors and wouldn’t expect him to go to a team that will prob be back in the championship next year
Report abuse
if hes worth 8 mill he would be in the spurs side regularly, not a bench warmer get kevin nolan from the mags!!
Probably another WHOPPER from the E&S to sell papers as someone else has said
I hope that Wolves act and quickly to bring in the players we are desperately short of OR If the club isnt prepared to spend the money they go in for the “best of the Championship” with a few additions from abroad and/or a couple of loanees like Huddlestone
With Boro Newcastle & Boggies down – maybe look at 1 or 2 of the better players from these 3 clubs and perhaps one or two of the best players from Charlton – Zeng Shi – Free Transfer – Nick Bailey – Naarwich – Lee Croft, Wes Hoolahan and Saints have got one or two decent players
Imv IF we can get 2 or 3 Prem Proven Experienced – with a few mor additions we should have a fighting chance!
Sky Sports has named us amongst another 7 teams in the “relegation mix” bookies favs to go down – We already have a squad of some decent talented young & hungry – We need these additions to have a good chance of being in the Top 4 of the bottom mini league – Between now and the start of Pre season is all important – fingers crossed!
No doubt there are a lot of ideas floating around about who will be joining Wolves in the summer and I’d just like to post this comment to see who the Wolves fans would want to see in our midfield.
I do believe a good recruitment for our midfield would be Liam Lawrence (Stoke).
Any thoughts?
I am please Huddlestone is not an option. If he is not good enough for Spurs first X1 he is not good enough for Wolves.
We have to look overseas as the option to play in the Premiership means more than their over inflated wages.
There is not many players apart from Tuncay, Downing and Martins that I would look at.
i just think this is speculation, cant see any prem club payin 8 mill for hoddlestone, because hes just too slow and not mobile enough.3-4 mill he will b worth considering. He might be better suited to playing in spain or italy.

As I expected youve had to resort to insults to make your point a mark of low intelligence.
In case youve forgotten this is a democracy where people are allowed different opinions even if they differ from yours, you need to show a little respect. On my point about bad signings Berra is not worth 2.3million he has no pace, hes at best a championship player and finally I was refering to Darren Ward not Stephen Ward
Report abuse
It looks like Spurs made a mistake by signing Huddlestone on such a long contract. I can understand Villa listening to offers for Gareth Barry because he’s only got one year left on his contract, but Huddlestone’s got four. Maybe he is not the world class player some people believe?
Wait to see who Mick signs and how they play before criticizing him, so far he has done a fantastic job as Wolves manager.
I bought Tom Huddlestone to WWFC ( I was a scout at WWFC )at the age of 14 I said he would go on to play for England Tony Lacey ( Aceademy ) said he was useless. I hope Tony Lacey had the sack as he was the useless one in this case
Report abuse
my grandad as got more money than your club on a tuesday morning before he picks his pension up,aye boing boing watch the pennys
Report abuse
At no more than £3-4 million then he would be worth looking at but Redknapp is living in a very special dreamworld if he reckons £8 million is Huddlestone’s current value. At that sort of price there would have to be better opportunities out there. Think the price quoted is a statement of how little money Spurs have and how much Redknapp needs to raise in order to overhaul his squad. That knowledge makes me much happier – and paying over the odds will come back and bite us big time (Newcastle anyone?).
re: 41. Berra? How in the world is Berra a bad signing? Have you been to the Molinuex in the last 20 years?
Couldnt agree with 46 summary more…
Also 41 explain how Bothroyd was a bad signing…he was free and served a purpose when we had little or no money to spend…remember pre Morgan?
If 8 million is too much for a young, experienced international level player who exactly does MM think he is going to bring in? One gets the feeling that Wolves are not going to invest very much at all in which case it will be a long season.
i think huddleston would be a good signing at maybe 5.5 mil tops should try for sidwell or reo-coker
Report abuse
Sidwell and Reo coker would be cheaper and a better option but we need the both of them.
Tom Huddlestone is exactly the type of player we DON’T want. He won’t graft for the team when the going gets tough.
The sort of players we need are the Darren Fletcher type of players. The type that work hard and graft for the team for 90 minutes.
Don’t know of many but they are worth more than 10 Huddlestones.
Would be a good signing for us, but at no more than 5 million. Pretty sure spurs would take that for him as he’s not gonna get into their team next season.
I agree with Embarrassed, Wolfhound your trippin.
Huddlestone would be a cracking signing however at 8mill its a bit steep. 5 mill max.
David Wheater would be ideal, but he is going to attract a lot og interest.
The Likes of Roger Johnson I think would do well for us.
Still keeping my fingers crossed for Ledley.
HOW MUCH DID YOU THINK HE WAS GOING TO COST?
8M ON FIRST SIGHTING SEEMS A LITTLE HEFTY
BUT HE HAS ALOT OF QUALITY, CAN DELIVER A KILLER PASS, SOMETHING WE LACK!
WERE JUST GOING TO END UP WITH A BUNCH OF FOREIGN NOBODIES AGAIN!!
JUST BUY HIM LETS STOP THIS PENNY PINCHING!
45 spot on, E&S are just writing stuff with very a little substance I can imagine they are simply echoing the names of players that some fans have already mentioned on these message boards on previous articles.
Would be good signing though but who knows what the real price is.
What are wolves doing? We need these players and if hes cost that much this is what you have to pay to stay up for players. Look at Sunderland and how much they had to spend on players. This is what wolves have to do all you can say bye to premiership survival.
Embarrased – thats exactly how you should be feeling, trying to justify some of them signings! On another note, is it just me or has anyone else noticed there isnt actually a single quote from Moxey Morgan or McCarthy?
He is not worth 8 mill, however he is class.. he doesn’t play every game for Spurs because he doesn’t balance in their team.. but anyone on here who doubts he would be a massive improvement for us, is a simpleton!
To anyone who says ‘don’t get foreign players’ wake up, the top 4 teams in the prem are littered with foreign players!
Its about Balance, and altho I would love to see Thud at wolves, maybe he isn’t one of our priorties?

yow a gonna get good players for less than 4 mil to stay in the prem, you need to spend big to stay in the league, are yow all mad, are you thinking we will get the micheal kightlys of this world on a cheap and stay in this league, have a chat with yourself, you need to put the money in to get the players that want to play for the club, not numptys who wont care if the team get relegated take a look at the newcastle team full of internationals star players has it got them anywhere NO where are they relegated with the tescos bags. sort it out wolves fans its the board you need to look at are they as ambitious as they said they were or are they gearing up for another relegation

Here we go again…..Huddlestone £8 million n worth every penny……..get a life. Yeah, good player but what makes hin worth £8 million..not his contract thats for sure. Dont some people realise that 1 player worth 8 million doesnt make a team. Think about it guys before thinking we have a never ending supply of cash. Will 1 £8 million player ensue we stay in the Prem, erm, I dont think so. Lets think, on the basis of thinking for lots of so called fans we will need 6 players rated tween 6 n 8 mill, so 40 million without wages. Add another 2 or 3 players at 2 mill plus, thats 6 mill plus wages………..where do some people live, cloud cuckoo land…????
As for the boggies on heer again, just get a life…1 that will be in the Rola Cola league for a few many seasons to come me thinks.
Have faith Mick, we have in you n the board/managerial team.

How about Shackell and £5m? seems fair to me, Hudds is just what we need!
Because he is not wanted by Spurs does not mean he is not worth £8m – if he can do a good job in the Wolves midfield – which I believe he can – he will be worth a hell of a lot more than £8 million to us in the future !!

Did anyone watch the game yesterday? Why should we even consider Kevin Nolan or anyone from Newcastle on that performance? Huddlestone was class when he was on loan at our place and is someone who would improve our team considerably. Adam Johnson and Michael Mancienne would also be fantastic for us.
41 – I bet you was one the people that moaned about Gibson as well!!!!! I always said he was too clever for our team and never got the chance!

Offer half the 8 million, with 500k for each position we finish from bottom.
Yes i agree with MM policy of not paying over the odds for over the hill players, but we should be going for players like huddlestone or are wolves board just talking the talk as per usual . Are they going to fob us off with another load of empty promises and cheap nobody’s . ITS LOOKING LIKE THIS .ARE WE A CLUB WITH ZERO AMBITION???
I can’t believe anyone would even consider Huddlestone a good buy at £8m. He was pretty ineffective on loan here a couple of years ago , has no pace or mobility and can’t tackle. For that money we need quality , not mediocrity.
Huddlestone has just gone under the knife, What price now. Harry is a crafty cockney, BEWARE!!
Here we go, get some grafters in the team instaed. ou can see wheer we are heading. Huddlestone is a good player, he is the sort if player that we should be going for, but IMO not for 8m, maybe 6m
Report abuse
and so it begins… start as you mean to go on.
Bad mistake, Huddlestone is what we need in the team to stop up,shows a bit of class, can pass a ball.
so, in perspective, take away all the filters that mick has placed on signings, get moxey to swallow his pride and both of them to realise that the ways and means of the last three years MUST change or we flop, and this is the price you EXPECT to pay, realistically, whether you want to or not should be no object.
So far all we have done is ‘dismiss’ and ‘move on’… to where exactly. If you identify the player as someone who would fit your plans to remain in the big league then go out on a limb to get them. He isn’t a big time charlie, or a ‘barrack room lawyer’ as mm would say. He fits into that category ‘young anf hungry’ that they can’t seem to get enough of mentioning at every opportunity, but suddenly we’re a victim because tottingham want a bit of money for him.
In perspective you have to look at money mick was willing to spend while panicking in january, 2 and a half million on Berra who was no better than Shackell who we paid for then sent back :s
But also two similar players, position and mentality wise. If Lassana Diarra is worth 20mill that Madrid paid for him, and somehow Olofinjana is worth a cool 3mill when he’d NEVER played in that league before, then 8million seems to balance just about right for Hudds considering past experience and comparison with others
Report abuse
26 – dont forget most games will be a sell out at home or close too it but if we say 24000 people all paying around, worst case £30.00 a match then that more than covers 22 players at £15000 a week, in fact that covers them for 2 weeks which is handy when we’re playing away etc……… I understand what you are saying but our Premiership ticket prices should see us with Premiership players on Premiership wages which we as fans are paying a lot of.
88. Berra no better than Shackell? I did laugh at that one.
Looking at Hull who survived we are not that far away. 8 mil is way too much 5mil and a 500k on survival. I agree that legs, pace and grit are the key with one or 2 ball players:
Joe Ledley
Tom Huddlestone
Kevin Nolan
Ryan Taylor
Tuncay
Adam Johnson
Sol Campbell

I can guarantee Wolves will not pay anybody above £15,000 per week.
Jez Moxey runs this club as a BUSINESS. He has done for years. Do you think he’s going to change? NO.
Moxey has the final say on transfers, wages, signing on fees, transfer fees, agent fees. And he will never go over his budgets.
You all need to get a grip and realise this. Wolves won’t sign any big names. I will put my house on it.

Huddlestone – claasy player but no pace and little mocility – noy worth more than 3 million.
Some players can look good in a very good side – Darren Gibson for one, remember how out of place Darren Ferguson was when we had him. We’re not going to have the sort of side that can carry people, so we need grafters cos the other teams are gonna make us cover some ground this coming season.Hold our place this coming season and then start to improve the quality.

He may be slightly overpriced but we are going to have to both break our wage structure and record transfer fee by some way.
I can see Burnley – who have a decent team – and Hull being the two most likely to go and then we will be scrapping with the likes of Blues, Stoke, Bolton and Wigan to stay up.
We must look at spending at least £25 million and that would be on about 6 players. So up the ante!

im tellin you now i dont we’ll sign many players until man city sign theirs, they have a whole hoost of players who are gonna be on thier way out of there who are more than good enough to keep us up. micheal ball, caciado to name but two and thats not forgettin the likes of micheal johnson ok we’ll face competition but aslong as we’re competetive with the wages we have selling points that the teams we’re competing with dont such as a great training ground, plans for a new stadium a whiff of ambition, you think birmingham have any of these? remember we havent got to compete with fulham bolton ect we only have to beat 3 other teams over 38 games and with the likes of birmingham burnley and hull and financial problems at portsmouth and west ham anything can happen. two players kept portsmouth up, johnson and crouch and neither of them are gonna be there in september. hull, i dont think are gonna be up to much and burnley have a HUGE jump to have a chance of staying up (so do we all tbh but even more so in thier case) birmingham i feel are tarred with the same brush as west brom — yoyo club.
remember transfers are a cascade small clubs sign players when big clubs sign thier players.

I,ve been watching wolves for the last 45years and we always fall short of that little bit of ambition that seperates the big boys from the rest.buying huddleston, mancienne etc would make more sense than some of the names mentioned, they are young talented and will increase in value the better they get,if we dont show ambition now its championship again and goodbye too the best players we,ve had for years..we failed before so did mick lets show more ambition to make an impact apart from ten clubs we can compete with the rest ,,,cmon the WOLVES

Let me put my neck out and say NO prem club is going to pay 8 million for Huddlestone. He is an imobile but good playmaker, and Harry Rednapp knows it.
He can’t play defensive midfielder because he cant tackle and gets caught out of position , and cant play attacking midfielder because he hasnt got the pace to get into the box.
For all those who think we should sign him, they should remember that He didnt look too good when he came to us on loan. Some players can look good in a great side like spurs

the transfer window is not yet open for business
For goodness sake get a life some of you (especially the boggies) – good things come to he who waits, so I’m waiting for MM, JM & SM to do the job

Sorry matey – Couldnt resist that!
Must agree with certain things said re:Moxey trying to run club like a business and bending SM’s ear about money issues/ transfers etc
Whilst it is good to be prudent – I believe that Moxey is acting the way he is because he personally isnt up to a convincing pitch to the better than average Prem Proven Players and prefers to “hit on/ aim at” the softer options in lower leagues or clubs abroad – where he is an unknown and can say “we’re a Premiership team in England” without players agents saying “sorry who are you???”
I am very curious to find out if this story has any truth in it and wondered if anyone actually knows where all this has come from?
As I have said many times before – I really hope the club takes ACTION to bring in at least 2 or 3 better than average Prem Proven Players as we cant or shouldnt really be doing what Boggies did this season and brought in players that took too long to bed in
Alan Hansen said on BBC recently – You need players with abillity and pace in this league (Premier)
I hope that Moxey shows all of us including me that he is ready willing and able – But I think that he will fall short of even the better than average Prem Proven Players that we clearly need – nothing has happened yet so we can all hope for things to progress – fingers crossed!

He is not worth 8 million quid. Spurs may accept 4 million closer to the start of the season, but no one is going to pay that for a Spurs squad player.
I think Butt at 35,000 a week would be good though. I myself will play for 10, 000 a week, though I’m not exactly box to box these days.

Why do we have to here about who we are not intersted in for one i’m not interested.
please just get on with the job and bring in quality young players and PROVEN prem if mick wants a player then moxey should do his utmost in getting what Mick wants this is no penny pinching league if jez moxey feels he cant complete then we should get someone who can we have the money in hand its the selling that lets us down.jez is great in the lower leagues but not prem. sorry jez.
