Owls still on Potter’s trail

Sheffield Wednesday remain keen on signing Wolves midfielder Darren Potter.
The Republic of Ireland international impressed on loan at Hillsborough during the second half of last season, playing 17 games and scoring his first two League goals of his career.
Following the signing of Tommy Miller from Ipswich, it was thought Owls boss Brian Laws may drop his interest in the former Liverpool man.
But Laws insists he’s still interested in the midfielder, who has been told he can leave Molineux this summer, and is currently working on a deal.
“We’re still pursuing Darren and are hopeful of a successful conclusion,” said Laws. “We’ll have to see how that one pans out.”
Potter’s former Wolves team-mate Michael Gray has already signed a one-year deal at Hillsborough after Wednesday took over his Wolves contract in January.
Potter has 12 months left on his Molineux contract, and the five-capped midfielder has been on the transfer list for the last year along with central defender Darren Ward. The 24-year-old – who made the last of his 56 Championship appearances for Wolves 15 months ago – along with Ward and Jason Shackell have been made available.
