Thomas days out may hit buffers

Severn Valley Railway is reviewing the future of its regular Thomas the Tank Engine events after heavy rain hit visitor numbers this year.

The Day Out With Thomas events may be shunted into the sidings while railway bosses consider whether they should be given a fresh look.

Last year one of the Thomas events was sidelined to make way for the Seaside Special which proved popular with families and will be re-run this September.

Meanwhile railway bosses are taking stock of attendances from the Thomas events held over the last two weekends.

Severn Valley Railway marketing manager John Leach said: “We will be reviewing the event and deciding whether to rest it for a year, or perhaps two, but we could also decide how to do it better.”
