No action taken for Oakwell invasion
Friday 22nd May 2009, 10:15AM BST.
Wolves will have no action taken against them following the pitch invasion by fans at Barnsley on April 25.
Visiting supporters twice poured on to the Oakwell playing surface, first when Kyel Reid equalised, then at the final whistle when the 1-1 draw signalled the clinching of the Championship title.
Mounted police kept rival fans apart, after hundreds of Wolves’ 6,000-strong following entered the pitch at the end of the match.
An FA spokesman said: “We confirm there will be no further action from the FA regarding the crowd control issues at Barnsley’s match with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday April 25.”
