Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Answers expected at Marston Road
Tuesday 19th May 2009, 8:30AM BST.
Stafford assistant manager Darren Read expects the fans to have their answers over the next week as the club make plans to move forward this summer.
Disgruntled Rangers fans have been invited to an open meeting with chairman John Downing next Tuesday at Marston Road (7:30pm), to clarify what objectives and targets are to be made for the 2009/10 season.
But the Blue Square North season only ended on April 25, so – with most of the players still away on holiday – everything is up in the air. Even the future of manager Chris Brindley has yet to be officially clarified.
Now Read has brought the inside word that everyone is working together to get the ball rolling on a prospective summer of rebuilding, one that should see the current boss and his No 2 remain at the helm after successfully surviving relegation.
He believes that by the time the Rangers faithful meet with the chairman, some of their questions may have already been answered.
The assistant said: “By the time next week arrives, I believe the picture will be a whole lot clearer anyway. As far as I know, Chris will be here as manager for next season, as will myself on the coaching staff.
“Before he went away on holiday, he asked for a figure as a budget, the board were working on giving that to him but it does take time – it’s only been just over three weeks since the season ended.
“They are close to reaching an agreement, so I would expect that he will accept the post. He won’t sign a contract, but he was working without a deal anyway, as we both were.
“I doubt there will be many contracts here next season.”
