Swindon ahead for anticipated clash
Monday 18th May 2009, 6:00AM BST.
League leaders Wolves host bookies’ favourites Swindon in a speedway clash which has all the makings of a classic.
The home side, fired up by their last-gasp win at Eastbourne, are hoping to take maximum league points at home for the sixth successive match tonight.
But Swindon, led by former Monmore Green track record holder Leigh Adams, will pose the sternest of tests this evening (7.30pm).
Wolves team boss Peter Adams is looking at potential trouble further down the Robins’ order.
He said: “They are a quality team and with Ryan Fisher at reserve they have an ace in the hole.”
Wolves will look to counter Fisher’s threat with their own flying No 7 in Ty Proctor.
The Monmore men Wolves travel to Swindon for the return encounter on Thursday.
Wolves: 1 P. Karlsson, 2 N. Klindt, 3 T. Woffinden, 4 A. Skornicki, 5 F. Lindgren, 6 H. Stichauer, 7 T. Proctor.
Swindon: 1 L. Adams, 2 T. McGowan, 3 J. Pavlic, 4 S. Stead, 5 T. Batchelor, 6 K. Stojanowski, 7 R. Fisher.
