Future is BrightHouse for former Woolies
Saturday 16th May 2009, 6:59PM BST.
Wednesbury’s former Woolworths is to be taken over by homeware and electrical store BrightHouse, the Express & Star can reveal today.
The empty store in the town centre is under offer from the national chain and could be up and running next month.
At least seven new jobs are expected to be created with the shop due to open its doors to customers on June 27.
BrightHouse, which is the trading name of Caversham Finance Limited, is described as a rent-to-buy store selling home electronic and domestic appliances, household furniture and other related products. It offers weekly repayment schemes with an APR of 29.9 per cent.
The firm is also taking over an empty Woolworths store in Bloxwich, it was revealed earlier this week, but concern has been raised that the interest rates may be too high for some customers to realistically afford.
