Dudley main event for bright star
Saturday 16th May 2009, 8:00AM BST.
Middleweight boxing sensation Nasser Al Harbi comes to the Black Country for the first time aiming to make another big splash in the talent pool.
The Birmingham teenager takes on Martyn King in the main event at Dudley’s the Venue on May 29.
Already touted as a future world champion by former WBC title holder and respected trainer Richie Woodhall, the 19-year-old has marked his card as an endurance fighter over six straight wins in the paid ranks.
Now he fights outside the Second City for only the second time and the first as a headline attraction.
The middleweight said: “This is the first time I have fought under the ‘First Team Promotions’ banner and my first time as the main event, so it’s a big night for me. I have had a good career so far, I just want to keep making those steps forward now.
“To be called a future world champion by someone as respected as Richie was great for me, I like to think we have a similar style of fighting. This is my seventh fight now, I am coming on all the time.
“I just want to achieve my goals and I think I am ready to start doing that.”
To be there for the big fight night, contact the box office on 0870 320 7000 or promoter Paul ‘PJ’ Rowson on 07976 283 157.
