Wolves plot to return to top

Monday 11th May 2009, 6:00AM BST.

Karlsson_Barker_0080_JHWolves look to go nap and return to the top of speedway’s Elite League table.

They have taken the maximum three league points on all four occasions so far this season at Monmore Green.

A fifth such win when they face Ipswich (7.30pm) will see the Parrys International Wolves overhaul Swin-don at the league summit.

Team boss Peter Adams has stressed the importance of taking the maximum win at every home match.

Although Ipswich have made an uneven start to the campaign, they have a solid top five and in Piotr Swiderski a rider who can be brilliant at the Green.

There’s danger at reserve, too, from the Witches with Polish rider Dawid  Stachyra impressing so far while former Wolf Carl Wilkinson has plenty of track knowledge.

Wolves reserve Hynek Stichauer will be hoping to find some form after a promising 10 points in a European Championship qualifier at Stralsund, Germany – a meeting won by former Swindon rider Renat Gafurov.

Fredrik Lindgren is unbeaten at home in the league so far this season and will be looking to extend his extraordinary record of nine successive 5-1 Monmore league and cup heat victories in partnership with skipper Peter Karlsson.

Wolves: 1 Peter Karlsson, 2 Nicolai Klindt, 3 Tai Woffinden, 4 Adam Skornicki, 5 Fredrik Lindgren, 6 Hynek Stichauer, 7 Chris Kerr.

Ipswich: 1 Jarek Hampel, 2 Leigh Lanham, 3 Tobias Kroner, 4 Danny King, 5 Piotr Swiderski, 6 Dawid Stachyra, 7 Carl Wilkinson.
