Dorrans signs new Albion deal
Friday 8th May 2009, 10:59AM BST.
Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans has committed his long-term future to Albion by penning a new contract.
Officials have put the finishing touches to an extension for the young midfielder, who has been a revelation since getting his first-team chance.
Now the 22-year-old could celebrate his new deal by making a return to action against Wigan tomorrow after a foot injury.
The £150,000 signing from Livingston has a year remaining on his existing deal, plus a further year’s option in the club’s favour, but manager Tony Mowbray is pleased the Scotland under-21 international is close to agreeing a longer stay.
Mowbray said. “It’s something that’s imminent. Great credit to the boy, he’s deserved his new contract.
“He’s taken huge strides, broken into the team and warrants the contract that’s being offered to him, which he’s more than happy to sign.
“Hopefully it’s the start of a long and successful journey with this club.”
Dorrans could be back in action tomorrow after returning to the training field for the first time in almost a fortnight.
He was unable to take a full part in the team session, but could still return against the Latics.

He does look very useful, full of tricks, can spray the ball all over the place and gets stuck in too. Well deserved new contract in my opinion. I can see him being Albion Captain in the future.
Keep it up Dozza!!

I saw him play pre season at Shrewsbury where he put Moore, Bednar and several other first teamers to shame with his effort and commitment. OK it was a friendly against lower opposition but I thought he had something. So why did he not get a game earlier? Even after an impressive performance against West Ham when we still had a chance to stay up he was “rested”. I hope next season TM will be a bit bolder and rest some of his favourites, though I suppose it is difficult to leave out your record signing when he has cost over 4 million. Against Boro I actually saw a midfielder, Dorrans, put a tackle in.

Agree with your comment, a midfielder actually putting a tackle in. Let’s hope Boro and Magpies draw while Hull and Sunderland lose (just to keep it interesting!).

No.12 ‘K’ is 1000. ‘M’ is 1,000,000 Now offer 250M and we just MIGHT consider it. And you’re supposed to be in money? Dear oh dear. Let’s hope his old team mate is as good and comes down here to join him.

Am i missing something here? Why would he have his head turned by Wolves if a big premiership club is interested in him like you say?
