Proctor praise as Wolves go top
Tuesday 5th May 2009, 7:23AM BST.
Skipper Peter Karlsson paid tribute to unsung hero Ty Proctor as Wolves speedway regained top spot in the Elite League.
The Aussie’s vital second place in last night’s penultimate heat ensured a 50-40 home victory over Coventry.
It also left Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren needing a 4-2 only in the final race to claim the maximum three league points.
It was one of three gutsy passes carried out by the 22-year-old Proctor, despite him still feeling the effects of a series of falls.
Karlsson said: “Ty is not very fit but he screws the gas on. It’s good to see. He has a lot of guts. It took all the pressure off for the win.”
The captain also regained his track record by nearly half a second.
