Wall is toppled in crash

Saturday 2nd May 2009, 10:55AM BST.

The wall of a West Bromwich front garden was destroyed when a car ploughed into it.

The driver, believed to be aged in his 20s, was driving his Toyota MR2 along Anson Street in Hill Top, at around 4pm yesterday.

Residents said the vehicle skidded across the road, hit a telegraph pole and destroyed part of a garden wall and hedge before coming to a stop on a driveway.

Debris from the crash was hurled across the garden.

Anson Road resident Colin Wyke, aged 45, said: “At about 4pm yesterday I was stopped by my neighbour who told me there was a car on my driveway.”

“It was 4pm, a few doors away the kids are usually riding their bikes up and down the street, thank god they weren’t yesterday.”

Nobody was reported to have been injured.
