Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Win at Spurs survival key for Mowbray
Thursday 30th April 2009, 11:33AM BST.
Upbeat Albion boss Tony Mowbray has told his players they can beat Tottenham on Saturday to breathe fresh life into their Premier League survival campaign.
Despite just one win away from home all season, Mowbray has delivered a bullish message as his team look for a victory that could put them back in touch with their relegation rivals.
The Baggies have been largely written off in the fight to stay up, but victory in North London would send them in to the home clash with Wigan a week later with renewed hope.
Mowbray said: “It’s going to be a great game going to White Hart Lane. It will be a great pitch and they’ve got some unbelievably talented players.
“Yet, having sat and watched their game at Manchester United, we know they can be as good as they were in the first half but their fallibilities can be there as well.
“I think we will create some chances there, but we know they’ve got some great players who can hurt any team, as they showed at Old Trafford.”
Mowbray insists he has not been affected by his side’s chances being dismissed.
He said: “I don’t get sucked into perceptions and that’s not just a line of spin.
“All we’ve got to do is look at Tottenham this weekend, do our homework, do things properly, give ourselves the best chance to go there and give them some problems.
“We could win all of our games and all the teams around us could win all of their games – and we still wouldn’t get out of it.”

Boing Boing.

Go and do it boys and make the most pessimistic of us believe again!!
Spurs are safe and hopefully in holiday mode already.
Just remember to mark that little Irish fella who nearly always manages to get a goal against us.

Cov Baggie: If i remember correctly Carson & Valero pledged earlier in the season that they WILL stay with us even if we go down

Good luck!

I agree with Cov baggie. I couldn’t believe Carson’s comments that he might stay if we are relegated. How very generous of him considering he’s our worst goalie in years and has played his part in a very poor defence.

I wonder just who would come in for Carson at 3 million?
There wasn’t a long queue for his services when we bought him!
Great shot stopper but the rest of his error prone game needs shedloads of work.
Who wants him??
Then again, I was surprised that Zuberbhuler went to Fulham earlier this season.
When all is said and done, just HONOUR YOUR CONTRACT and try and repay WBA and all the fans for the cock ups and points you lost us this season.

Thinking Spurs are in holiday mode will get you in completely the wrong mindset my friend.
Tottenham have an outside chance of European football and will be going for it Saturday.
We have tricky away games at Everton and Liverpool to come so saturday is an absolute must win game.West Brom got lucky at the Hawthorns aganst us, clearly fouling Dawson for the first goal and we owe you one for that too!

You never know…Carson may put in a ‘Wonder performance’ to try and convince Harry he’s a good prospect for Spurs. I don’t think their keeper has shone this season and they did have an England No. 1 for a while.
No. 7 As for we got lucky at home to Spurs I think you’ll find it balances itself out during a season, you were lucky it was only 5 at Old Trafford!!

7. JJSF
Surely, if you were sooooo good then a gentle shove and some great acting should not have got in the way of scoring a few more goals.
IT IS ALL IN THE PAST!!!
Saturday will be a completely different game with a much improved Spurs team who will not get beaten at home.Sunderland was a one off AND an off day for them.
Albion to lose 4-1 to spurs.

7 – I did say hopefully in holiday mode didn’t I.
I don’t honestly think we’ll get anything from the match on Saturday, but IF we do, then there is some small potential for us to pull off the greatest of great escapes!!

i too believe you can do it and am looking forward to our meeting in The Premiership next season.Bye bye Newcastle,Boro and Hull….

I can’t see us getting anything at Spurs, they are a very good side but it really is a funny old game, so we can still dream.
7 JJSF.
Don’t blame us, blame Michael ‘watch me I’m a snowflake’ Dawson.
Anyway, like I’ve said before, we really need to go into next season on a high, however low it is and avoiding bottom spot would be something.
On the Carson thing. Have a go at him when you know what he actually said, not ‘what has been reported.’

Good luck you Baggies, you can do this if you really want to.
Keep the faith !!

We can do it, however, Mowbray will probably play one up front as usual. His team selection and tactics have been pathetic all season, he needs to go at the end of the season along with all the players he brought in to the Hawthorns.

Carson might stay even if we get relegated! Cheeky bl88dy sod!.Who the hell does HE think HE is?He’s cost us,but do the majority want him to stay?me for one ,no.Get Thomas Kojack back from Man U.If he would come?.

Spurs will be gunning for victory against the worst team in the league. Optimism is temporary, delusion is permanent in sandwell. At least after they lose, the baggies will be able to say it was close against two “passing” teams. Ha. Robbie to stick three past ya :)

C’mon Baggies, lets have a Black Country Derby in the Premiership next season! As a Wolves fan i hope you stay up! (CHAMPIONS!!);)

“We could win all of our games and all the teams around us could win all of their games – and we still wouldn’t get out of it.” …….brilliant! how much is he paid for these words of wisdom? Going down the Mowbray way…in the meantime here at the golden palace….hehehehehehe…

7 – We got lucky?? How? U had one shot all game. So how was we lucky? Granted, if ur man hadnt got sent off it mite have been a different game but u wasnt exactly outstanding before sending off. What was lucky was last time we was at ur place, hammered u all game, yet u won with 2 giftwrapped chances & 2 goals. Anyway hopefuly will be good game, u normally play open, nice football like us. Although typical Rednap does seem 2 be draining that & doin things his own way now.
Back to back wins please, our wins have all came in 2 seperate mini runs. A 3rd run now is perfect timing. We can do it! C’mon u BAGGIES!!

5. i wouldnt say in years…. He is a good goalkeeper just some of you cannot see it because you dont have a clue, yes he makes mistakes but he is young, most keepers do not hit there peak until very late 20′s, some of you seem to forget the saves he makes, if he didnt make any mistakes what so ever he would be playing for United as the number 1… Just look at his save against Sunderland, if that had gone in, it would of been a very different game i feel.
Yes his comments on how he might stay even if we are relegated are modest, and it does suggest to me that he thinks he is bigger than the club if we go down, but i think we should all stand by him, he needs support and confidence, somthing keepers strive after.

I dont think the players will need motivating for this 1, win u have a chance of stayin up, or lose and face goin down, simple choice , just go 100% and win, no gameplan needed attack! come on u baggies

Mowbray has been saying all season, if we win our next game , we can stay up.Why doesn’t he accept that we are going down and there is nothing he can do about it.The fans no it he knows it and every one else knows it,i don’t think the great escape will happen this season. When we loose against spurs will he accept that we are down or will he say ,until it is mathmatical imposable we still have a chance

C’mon Boggies you can do it-It would be great if you could join us in the big time.

Sorry to be the merchant of doom boys but Styles is ref. Combined with Defoe falling over in the box, a definite penalty against tomorrow, maybe another Robbo sending off (aka Man Utd) and the little Irish bugger is bound to score so although hopeful, the signs are not good!!!
