Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Villa’s Carew nomadic no more

Globetrotting goal machine John Carew has vowed his journeyman days are behind him after declaring his future lies at Villa Park.
The Norway striker, who has netted 13 goals this season, has moved to quash rumours he will close another chapter in his nomadic career by leaving the claret and blues this summer.
Carew, 29, still has another two years to run on his contract, but speculation has been rife since last year’s lap-dancing scandal and the January arrival of Emile Heskey that his long-term future could lie elsewhere.
Werder Bremen and Galatasaray have both been linked with moves for the towering forward, who made Villa his sixth club in six countries in seven years when he signed in 2007, following spells with Rosenborg, Valencia, Roma, Besitkas and Lyon.
But Carew insists he is going nowhere.
He said: “I am very happy here. I don’t want to leave this club, I love being here, the fans, the players.
“I don’t see any reason why I would leave. I am enjoying my football and I’m happy to be contributing.
“If I didn’t love it here you would see that on the pitch. I just want to continue and to do well the whole of next season – and avoid all the injuries which hindered me.
“I have scored a lot this season and if I hadn’t been out for months it could have been a lot more this time around.”
Carew’s sentiments have recently been echoed by Villa boss Martin O’Neill, who has been delighted with the striker’s form.
He said: “Has he got a future here? Yes. Is he happy here? Yes. The crowd like him a lot, he is responding to that which is great.”
