laursen.jpegVilla winger James Milner believes skipper Martin Laursen would be missed by ‘any team in the world.’

Central defender Laursen is expected to admit defeat in his latest battle with a knee problem and confirm his retirement in the next few days.

Milner admits Villa will have their work cut out replacing him.

He said: “We have dealt without him before. But Martin Laursen would be a big miss for any team in the world.

“Defensively he is very good and there are not too many teams that he could not play for. It is a big disappointment.

“He is obviously a top class player and you will miss your best players.

“He has won the Champions League and just watching him he loves to get his head on the ball – attacking and defending.

“He will always stick his head in. You always feel safe when he is at the back. He will win those headers.

“It would be disappointing (if he retired) because he has achieved a lot in the game.”
