Rehearsals have started for a concert featuring a popular Black Country choir and two talented singers from the Wolverhampton area.

The Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir, which was formed in 1957, is holding its concert at Lichfield Cathedral on June 20 from 7.15pm.

The choir from Kingswinford, Stourbridge, will be joined on the night by soprano Helen Withers from Wolverhampton and organist Jean Martyn from Brewood.

Choir member John Smith said it was set to be an evening to remember. “We are going to lift the roof off at this concert,” he said.

Tickets are £13 or £8. Money from the concert will be donated to the cathedral’s restoration fund.
