Moxey: Keep off pitch – or else
Monday 27th April 2009, 11:30AM BST.
Wolves today threatened to pull plans for the Championship trophy presentation after Sunday’s final game IF there are any more pitch invasions – as the FA said it was looking into the incidents.
The club have reacted forcefully to Saturday’s scenes at Oakwell which twice saw Wolves fans from the 6,000 travelling contingent invade the pitch.
The first followed Kyel Reid’s equaliser and a second invasion was triggered by the final whistle of a 1-1 draw which confirmed Mick McCarthy’s already-promoted team as champions.
The security scare was watched with concern from the directors’ box by all the Molineux hierarchy, and the game’s ruling body today said it will be looking into Saturday’s events.
An FA spokesman said today: “We are looking into the pitch invasion involving Wolves at the weekend.”
The spokesman said they had not yet received the referee’s report and will be continuing inquiries by speaking to both clubs.
But with the team set to be presented after Sunday’s finale against Doncaster with the very same trophy last clutched by Billy Wright 50 years ago, chief executive Jez Moxey today made it clear this historic moment will be abandoned if there is any kind of invasion by supporters.
“The club’s position on this is quite clear and no-one should be under any illusion about it,” said Moxey today. “If there is any kind of pitch incursion there will be no public presentation of the trophy.”
That policy was drawn up after Moxey spent yesterday consulting the key figures in Saturday’s events in which he would have collected some disturbing data.
Manager Mick McCarthy was furious with one fan who jumped on his back.
“I wasn’t sure whether it was someone who wanted to celebrate with me or give me a good hiding,” said McCarthy. “It was an unfortunate situation.
“Let’s hope we are allowed to celebrate next Sunday. It doesn’t completely tarnish what has been a wonderful achievement from the players but they don’t want to be mobbed. ”
Barnsley’s Bobby Hassell revealed that another Wolves fan had slapped him in the face during the invasion, while goalscorer Kyel Reid had his shirt ripped off and then watched two fans fight over the prize.

IF our supporter want to see the lifting of the cup they must head what has been said “PLEASE,PLEASE DONT INVADE THE PITCH” lets celebrate yes! but a standing ovation as our boys do a lap of honour would be more appropriate

I can understand the release of emotion at first getting promoted and then winning the league, it has been a long time coming. I was on the pitch against qpr. With everything won now i hope we can have one huge party at the mol on sunday followed by the championship trophy being presented and the paraded around the pitch. Ihonestly dont think there will be any pitch invasion on sunday. Looking forward to it already.
WEEM WOLVES AY WE!!!!!

THe pitch invasion at Molineux was enough, it wasnt exactly a shock we clinched the title now was it?
The people who ran on the pitch when we scored are immature idiots, full stop. We were all exstatic but there is a line and some people seem intent on crossing it.
When the final whistle went I was at the back of the stand again watching some of you idiots storm the pitch through the police barrier. Dont you realise how close it was to turning nasty with the Barnsley fans? It was only the police on horses that kept them back.
Seriously, a few morons seem intent on ruining it for the rest of us. Grow up and let us ALL celebrate on Sunday. Pathetic.
Obviously there is a fine line between celebration and over exhuberance but I can only remember one occasion that a fan has been on the pitch in the last 20 years before last week, and he was roundly booed by the entire groud. At some (local) grounds where we go, fans seem to be allowed to spill onto the pitch every time they score. Cameron Jerome should have been sent off on saturday for his treatment of one at St. Andrews, so let’s not get things out of perspective (not that the E&S would ever do that!)
I agree please stay off the pitch on Sunday. The players have worked hard to achieve what they have achieved. They are the ones who deserve to part of the celebrations and like Mick says they do not want to be doing it in the dressing room they want to be out on the pitch parading the cup with their families with pride. They have earned that right.
I’m all for people enjoying themselves and celebrating winning the title, but enough’s enough now. Stay off the pitch on Saturday and allow the players and staff to do several laps of honour.
To The Brain dead, who ran on the pitch when
the Goal was scored. Well done you will now cost the club money and maybe points?
NO PITCH INVASION SUNDAY,

well said jez yea were all excited but why not just stay in your seats so the players can enjoy what they have worked all season for with us why wreck it and make them have to go in the dressing room and feel uncomfortable for them i seen what that fan did to mick and there was no need for it yh he was excited but a hand shake would of been better u dont have to tackle him come on lads lets hope none of this happens sunday so we can celerbrate together well done lads done us all proud

After a long season and now finally back in the Premier it would be a sad day for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the players and the loyal support if the club were forced to delay or worse not give the players their opportunity to lift the trophy in front of a full stadium.
The message is simple, “Keep off the pitch” and let’s give the whole team a chance to soak up the atmosphere and take the well deserved lap of honour.
COME ON YOU WOLVES!
whoever went on the pitch on Saturday, hole your head in shame. This is very worrying. We could lose everything because a few idiots cant control themselves.
All well and good going on the pitch at Mol against QPR. It was a one off, and it was at home. But please this is a step too far.
Stay off the pitch Sunday, Please. Let the other fans enjoy the day.

Distgusting behaviour they should be named and shamed spoils it for other supporters.I know we have waited a long time for promotion but that,s no excuse to invade the pitch when the match hadn,t finished or after.Barnsley players couldn,t do a lap of honour for their fans either how would you feel if it happened at wolves.
Gave us a bad name on Saturday, we have done it now but to carry on doing it is getting boring. Lets just see them lift the cup. ill be there!!
Up the Wolves!!
The stewarding/policing inside the ground was inept to say the least. Even before kick off the walk way behind the goal was crowded with mindless idiots no where near their own seats, it was obvious that their sole aim was to invade the pitch at the end. There was only one tanoy announcement asking them to move. The second half should have not kicked off until the mob was moved away form this area. Just before the end of the game a line of at least 100 riot police positioned themselves infront of the stand, so how come did anyone get onto the pitch?
I’m flying over extra from Germany to see this historic moment in our great club’s history so I hope the minority don’t spoil it for the rest of us. Please think on. If you are a genuine Wolves fan I’m sure you’ll do the right thing. If not, please stay home.
Stay off the pitch please
lets see the team celebrate properly in front of us
Report abuse
Never thought I would agree with Moxey. Against QPR it was a invasion to celebrate promotion and was a special action. On Sat I thought it was a pointless action that ruined the party we enjoyed in the day. It would been far more special for the players to come over and share the moment this time and thanks us for our great support and making it a carnival!
But I hope the idiots on sat dont cost us a points deduction and stop the presentation on sunday.
I would like to say I dont think it was helped by the near on 7000 fans being in a stand to hold 6000
Report abuse
‘Off the pitch, off the pitch, off the pitch!!’
Seriously, I sincerely hope the minority do not spoil Sunday for the majority of us, stay off the pitch and let us all enjoy what will be a magnificent occasion for the club and it’s supporters.
Anyone who goes on the pitch should be hit with a banning order for next season as a deterrent. We have already celebrated our promotion and title with a pitch invasion, now let’s all be adults and keep the pitch free for the trophy presentation and players laps of honour.
Can’t wait, it’s going to be amazing!
I think everyone agreed QPR it was good to go on, and it felt fantastic. Anyone with any brains is going to agree to stay off at the weekend. Its all about the moment and we know we have won the league now.
Must say – best guy on the pitch was the man with the carrot for Graham Roberts of WBA – dont believe anyone who said he passed it to him – he crapped himself when he got close and lobbed it from 3 yards. I was too young to see the Streaker in the 70′s.
Female Streakers always welcome on the pitch at any time.

when we scored the goal i couldn’t believe what the wolves fans, it was just plain stupid and took the gloss off a good day. This idiots need to be named and shamed and maybe banned. They have cost the club money.

I disn’t agree with the pitch invasions on Saturday because we were not at the Mol, but lets put it into context, while in some cases the fans were a little over excited, in the main it was all good humoured & well behaved, unlike the fans that went onto the pitch at the Blues game & I disagree with the earlier post that suggests that Jerome should have had a red card for booting the fan confronted the players.
But please lets not go on about FA fines & points deductions, your all going over the top.
Chill Out
Report abuse
Great, lets start next season with a 10 pt deduction because of some selfish ‘chest thumpers’.
Idiots! I would give my right arm to be at Molineux next sunday – and I would keep of the pitch like all intelligent Wolves supporters.
I was at Barnsley and I think the set up of the stand and the stewards were extremely poor, whilst I cannot condone a pitch invasion, a player being struck, a shirt being ripped off and MM being jumped upon more could have been done to prevent all of these events. I hope that I can stand in the southbank and watch our boys get the trophy – remember that the players have families aswell and they should have their lap of honour so let give em the thanks and support they deserve
Report abuse
I didnt agree with the pitch invasion Saturday but our players wouldnt have been able to come over to us anyway because of the Barnsley fans on the pitch. Hope everyone keeps off the pitch Sunday. CHAMPIONS 09 (:

First time was exciting and the second time was pointless. It spoilt my day infact, wouldnt it been better to have had the players come over and celebrate and throw shirts into the crowd????
They never thanked us for our great AWAY support!
I agree with Izzy aswell, we spoiled the last home game for Barnsley, their players didnt get to thank thier own fans!!!! I also think the Barnsley fans would of appluded our team and manager as they went round!
REMEMBER WHEN BRADFORD GOT PROMOTED HERE, I DONT REMEMBER MANY IF ANY GOIN ON THE PITCH!

I was at Oakwell on Saturday sitting fourth row from the front and I totally agree with MM that some of the gloss was taken off what should have been another fantastic day for genuine fans.
The invasion when the goal was scored was totally ridiculous and disrespectful to Barnsley as a club. Let’s not forget they are staring relegation in the face. If those scenes happened at the Molineux, if we were in a similiar situation, I’m sure we’d be very annoyed. There were 400 or so fans who never once went to their seats throughout the game and the moronic pitch invasion was totally premeditated. A message to the immature idiots – DON’T RUIN SUNDAY FOR THE GENUINE FANS WHO WANT TO ENJOY A GREAT DAY IN THIS GREAT CLUB’S HISTORY!!!!
Let’s not get a reputation for being the idiots who pitch invade everytime we win a corner or something! I went on the pitch at the QPR game and it was rather an anti-climax.
Just go mental in the stands and let the players enjoy it. After all it is the team that are playing the game.
AS for the pitch invasion after the goal at Barnsley, absolutely crazy! Get a grip people!
STAY OFF THE PITCH!

I agree that it would be out of order for fans to invade the pitch this weekend.
But as far as the Barnsley game is corcerned yes it was wrong to invade the pitch after the goal (perhaps even illegal. But after the game stewards and police alike seemed more than happy for fans to celebrate on the pitch. I actually take my hat off to the police on the day who seemed happy to let the peaceful celebrations take place.
We are not the only club to have taken part in pitch invasions over the years, so please will everyone put things into perspective and calm down.
Fingers cross their is no points deduction. Not that I think it will happen but, you cant take anything for granted these days!
Also I think its a disgrace, as there must have been women and children amongst the supporters who must have been scared out of their minds!

Well done the Moronic few. Spoilt it for the rest of us on saturday.
DON’T DO IT AGAIN. IDIOTS.
Well said Jez.
Take the players off the pitch at the end of the game and bring them back on after 10 minutes IF the morons have not invaded the pitch.
If morons come on the pitch the rest of us will let them know what we think of them and they will leave.
Jez, Wolves pay too much for policing so lets see them earning their corn. The should arrest a few and take them to court. It is a criminal offence to go onto the playing area with a fine up to £2000.
I am not being a spoil sport but it is the mindless few spoiling it for the mojority as per usual.

17 Ianwolves i heard at least 3 announcements asking for people to return to there seats prior to the match and about the same saying dont invade. Please dont make excuses it’s always someone elses fault i was pleased when most fans booed when we invaded after the goal. NO EXCUES brainless idiots who had no interest in Wolves who use us as an excuse to be rowdy. I think they should be banned
Report abuse
There will still be some stupid inane people and I dont call them fans, who will still try to get on the pitch on Sunday after the final whistle.
These cretins must be banned for the whole season if the intrude. This point must be made clear by a formal statement from the club.
Whilst in no way condoning the action of the wolves fans at Barnsley , I actually felt that the reaction after the match was excellent.
When kyle reid equalised , it is clear that no fans should have invaded the pitch .
However , once the final whistle was blown and the Police barrier was formed , I did not see one single wolves fan attempt to break the Police line . Indeed , the Police horses were only used to usher away the Barnsley fans , who were intent on getting at the wolves supporter’s.
In my opinion , The Wolves fans were only there to have a good time and to party . They were not interested in causing any trouble whatsoever . But , lets keep off the pitch next sunday lasd and let the players and every single supporter enjoy the occasion from a good and safe distance
Well Done me Babbies !!!

A few home truths:
1) A pitch invasion is never ever justified.
2) Against QPR, we were asked 3 times not to invade but it still went ahead.
3) There is always a risk of injury or worse when people rush onto a pitch and then congregate in a small area like by the tunnel. The fact that the pitch invasion against QPR happened the same week as the 20th anniversary of Hillsborough makes the whole thing more shameful.
4) Once you invade, you lose the moral authority to tell others when not to invade. Once the QPR pitch invasion had occurred, the Barnsley invasion was almost guaranteed.
5) Blaming the stewards is unfair and wrong. Stewards are there to assist with general crowd control not to prevent a mass invasion. Blaming them is like blaming Neighbourhood Watch if your house gets burgled!
6) Make no mistake. We -like all clubs – believe we have the best fans. Supporters of other clubs that I know would say we are some of the worst. Let’s start trying to create the right image on Sunday.
Please allow the players their moment of glory parading the trophy all round the ground so all fans can partake in the celebrations. Running on the pitch disrupts everything and will spoil a fantasic occasion. I know everyone has got a bit hysterical but PLEASE KEEP OFF THE GRASS AND RESPECT EVERYONE’S RIGHT TO CELEBRATE FROM THE STANDS.

Many wise and sensible comments on here and I want to add my support to them. The comments about how disrespectful it was to Barnsley and their fans who were unable to acknowledge one another in their last home game are particularly poignant – particularly given their situation. Sadly, there will always be selfish, mindless people and they will be there on Sunday. We must let them know how the majority feel about them by roundly booing them if they make another stupid move towards the pitch.
As I watched the Barnsley game I have to say that although the Wolves fan jumping on MM was over the top the majority of fans were just celebrating around the goal. Barnsley fans ran onto the pitch when they scored first and also were running around 75% of the pitch at the end, and as the game was at Oakwell they are responsible for crowd control so they are the ones that need to worry more than us!
As for sunday, the club deam it important for fans to stay of the pitch “OR ELSE” attitude its very poor, I understand and AGREE that if they want to present the cup etc the fans need to stay off and I will, BUT dont forget it the fans that pay the money and there is no need to use threatening comments! Surely just to plainly ask would be better?
47 – you are a complete muppet, no pitch invasion is welcome let alone being called “The best thing ever” you really ought to try som real life experiences if you think that
Not trying to deflect blame etc but the guy who jumped on Mick was actually a Barnsley fan congratulating him (in the MM interview in the press) – wolves fans couldn’t get that far due to the police

Solution. WWFC announce before and during the game – anyone who goes onto the pitch – WILL BE ARRESTED. Get plenty Police for the game, fine them and subsequently ban them for x period of time from WW premiership games. ONLY the non loyal and stupid will then go on the pitch. Simples, and we get some cash (and can I have 10% for the idea)

I heard one say they cant wait to get on the pitch at old trafford. i mean come on get a grip.
Some wolves fans are just embarrasing. If any1 goes on sunday i urge the rest of us civilised folks to boo to try and get the message across. the pitch invasion was enough at qpr let the players have their time with the crowd they deserve.

Trevb21. I agree with your comments, but please bare in mind of the severity of this situation. Sating dont go on the pitch or we wont celebrate with you is hardly “over the top”.

Trev, if you read it Mr Moxey didn’t say “or else”. Just stay off the pitch.

I think any invasion will be dealt with by extra police. Lets face it the invasion at the QPR game was taken in good spirit and the wilting thin line of stewards couldnt stop it or really attempted to. Any one who does invade the pitch will only spoil it for the fans, the team and everyone else. We dont want to see muppets running around on the pitch but the team get the trophy. After all this there are still some dumb idiots on here still thinking its ok.
47. What the hell are you on? “the best thing ever”. Although the QPR game was understandable there was no justification for Saturday. My nephew went and told me it could have turned very nasty. Look at the incident with MM, how was he to know it was someone celebrating? Also the players wanted to come and celebrate with the fans but with everyone in their correct position, i.e. players on the pitch, fans in the stands. End of. However they were unable to do this. It’s just passed the 20 year anniversary of the biggest trajedy at a football stadium in this country. The Taylor report led to the removal of fences but if Wolves fans continue this then I’m afraid it will be back to the darks days. Actually the FA will not revert to fences for obvious reasons but we will be very lucky to escape a financial backlash on this. Lets hope and pray that there isn’t a points deduction because that would be catastrophic. I’m sure the FA are looking at what happens on Sunday so to that end STAY OFF THE PITCH!!!! The problem we have like any other club there are a moronic few who will choose to totally ignore the pleads from the club. I have been to a number of away games this season and I am of the opinion there are a percentage of Wolves fans who are beyond reasoning with so time will tell if the request falls on deaf ears.
I have NEVER understood pitch invasions!
They are just selfish acts by mindless morons!
Against QPR there were at least 3 announcements asking fans to stay off the pitch and had this polite request been obeyed then ALL fans would have been able to celebrate including the ones in the upper tier of the Steve Bull who had to watch from a distance as the team had to celebrate in the directors box.
I never thought I would agree with anything from Chelsea but I remember their 1st premiership title celebrations when one-by-one each player came out on to the pitch and then the management staff after which the trophy was presented, now wouldn’t that be good on Sunday
Please stay off the pitch so each and everyone of us including the players etc can enjoy this fruits of this momentous season!!!!
The police and stewards allowed the celebrations on the pitch at Barnsley in my opinion. Not one person was ushered off and the whole atmosphere was carnival and merry. Alot of the police and stewards where smiling and joking along, as they recognised the good natured party atmosphere.
To win the title only happens once maybe twice in a lifetime and I understand the excitement on a historical day.
No harm was done and there was no malice from the Wolves fans, in the invasion Saturday whatsoever.
Needless to say, no fans on the pitch this Saturday, it would be inconsiderate to the players and the fans who would enjoy to watch a deserved lap of honour for this excellent achievement this season.
We are Wolves.

What kind of ridiculous statement is that? It was only too easy to get on the pitch if you were stupid enough to climb over the hoardings. How bloody stupid would it be to be promoted and then docked points in the same week?
Get a grip, leave the pitch to the players and just enjoy the atmosphere.

BUT OFCOURSE THE IDIOTS ONCE AGAIN RUIN IT!!!!! also the players hate it! some boozed up nut trying to grab them ripping off there shirts is really not what they want, they look scared to death! what do u gain? Think the comments on here say it all really. Since we’re promoted and champions already, there’s nothing left to bicker over whilst most people are pretending to work so we’ll talk about pitch invasions and if people who run on the pitch are the spawn of the devil. Lighten up people.
What has this got to do with Hillsboro, as some people are making out? Nothing other than the fact that it was the Taylor report that stopped fans being caged in like animals. Remind me how many instances of pitch invasions there have been since (other than for celebratory purposes)? People need to stop being so ridiculous and trying to be all pc. It’s embarrassing.
Lets face it – we’ve got some absolute knuckle draggers supporting our club – as all sides do. We possibly got more than our fair share. Add in a little alcohol, a little sunshine and promotion/the Championship, and its obvious that a lot of people will run invade the pitch.
If Wolves are so serious about it, why don’t they ban the sale of alcohol in the ground on Sunday? Okay, it won’t stop some people but it will mean that from 1.00 to 3.10, no-one will have a drink and get the extra courage. Oh, of course that won’t happen since Moxey/WWFC want that revenue.
Next week, when there are no more games to play or talk about, lets discuss whether genocide is wrong and whether some of the South Bank should hang their heads in shame so that middle class Wolves fans can have a rant on the internet and feel better before going back to their dull lives

The calling of BANS and ‘SCUM’ is ridiculous.
You all think its drunk hooligans who invade the pitch.
Well let me tell you, i saw a lot of families with kids and young daughters and sons who did the same exact thing as these so-called hooligans that your all on about.
Get a grip. You don’t know what your talking about. I even saw an elderly couple on the pitch with smiles on there faces, the bloke had his walking stick and 1960′s Wolves hat on. That’s what it’s all about at this time of the season.
GET OVER IT.

yeahh i love it how its just wolves well look at the barnsley they was on the pitch when they scored and at the end so again there is 2 sides 2 every story so if the FA wonna do an investigation investigate hillsbrough ENOUGH SAID

A pitch invasion is a pitch invasion, no excuses. Only trouble makers went on the pitch. Probably the same trouble makers who spoiled the promtion party for my team MOLINEUX MIXERS FC.
Please stay off THE PITCH

calm down lads the FA aye gonna be taking points off us for a pitch envasion.i think everyones goin abit ott.you wud av thort hundreds of our fans ad been arrested the way u lot are goin on.just stay off pitch sunday
Report abuse
Very simple to resolve this. Fans are not allowed on pitches. Announce befor kick off on Sunday that for any fan stepping onto the playing area video evidence will be used and don’t pussy foot around hand out lifetime bans that will stop the majority but you would still get the odd one who will try.
Let’s hope the idiots do not ruin it for the majority. I´m coming over from Spain for the match and I wanna see the boys parade the trophy.
Anyone caught running on the pitch should be banned from watching any games next season.
Okay we need to stay off the pitch on sunday, but to compare saturday to Hillsborough is a disgrace.
Weve become a nation of drama queens!!!!!

Agree with the comments to stay off the pitch. Went to Barnsley on Saturday with my son as I have to many away games this and previous seasons. I knew there would be an invasion as there are a few morons who were at Barnsley on Saturday too thick to know the meaning of the word consequences.
I am fearful for Sunday as these morons I am sure will not read these comments (if they can)
MM and the players desreve to celebrate with REAL fans. Any 1 invading pitch on Sunday after warnings from MM and Jez should be banned for life-WE DO NOT NEED YOU AT THE MOL
Report abuse
It would be nice to see the boys parade around the pitch with the Trophy on Sunday, I expect the team would like that aswell. This provides everyone with an opportunity to photograph, cheer and say thank you for a marvellous season. It only happens IF YOU STAY OFF THE PITCH!!!!!!

Here Here
I was at Barnsley, and whilst I did enter the pitch at the QPR game along with 1000′s of other Wolves fans, the two invasions on Saturday were completely out of order!!!!!!!!!!
We were guests of another club, and should have respect their property. At Molineux the excitement was understandable, at Barnsley a mindless few ruined what should have baan a fantastic day.
For once I totally agree with Mr Moxey. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO PITCH INVASION THIS SUNDAY. We’ve waited many many years for this, and I for one don’t want a few idiots taking what should be a memorable day away from everyone else.
Lets ALL enjoy it together!!!!
Forever Wolves

Guys & Gals
As I said earlier, I watched our celebrations from the stand & 99.9% of our fans on & off the pitch were celbrating the right way.
So please stop rattling on about fines & points deductions, these are done when clubs basically flout the rules & think they can do as they wish, this was all started by Liecester who decided to have a sparkly brand new stadium built, not pay anyone for works completed then choose to ‘bump their holding company’ ruining many peoples livelyhood along the way, Leeds quickly tried to follow suit 7 got the slap they deserved.
I also said this earlier, reflect on what has been written above, put what happened Saturday into context & chill out, that also goes for Martin Swain, Tim Nash & any other hacks who are struggling for something to write about because the match was so poor!!!!
For what it is worth I thought the Police & stewards were superb on Saturday, they great humour all day & acted profssionally when they had something to do, i.e. they didn’t cause a problem when one didn’t exist, that unfortunately can rarely be said of most of the grounds we visit, so congratulations to Barnsley FC & South Yorkshire Police.
Here endeth the rant.

Mick says,”It doesn’t completely tarnish what has been a wonderful achievement by the players”. What???? Is he saying that by not COMPLETELY tarnishing the season, it ALMOST tarnishes the season. Look, I thought that the pitch invasions were stupid, but I fear that we maybe going over the top here. We are a club that has been starved of success for many years and there was a bit of exuberance from a certain section of our support. McCarthy’s comments are crass, unjustified and totally over the top. It once again confirms the total contempt he has for Wolves fans.

I totally agre with Si Hughes (for the second time in 3 days!!!) I loved being on the pitch against QPR, it was a fun celebratory atmosphere, however, as soo as I saw ‘fans’ climbing on the dug out I just thought ‘oh god, why do some people have to act like hooligans and spoil it’. To be honest I was embarassed. I noticed how the first guy who got on the dug out wasn’t wearing any colours. Another of the ‘Stone Island – Burberry brigade I presume’ It’s funny how the majority of those going on the pitch when Reid scored weren’t wearing colours either, including the idiot who later jumped on mick.
If anynof you knuckle draggers can actually read… STAY OFF THE PITCH!

PLEASE,PLEASE STAY OFF THE PITCH ON SUNDAY,and let every fan, player ect, enjoy the celebrations. It was ok against QPR but mindless against Barnsley.

KEEP OFF THE PITCH! COME ON THE WOLVES!

i went on Saturday and it was a party throughout. At the final whistle wolves and barnsley fans ran on at the same time and mixed with no problems. Wolves fans just wanted to celebrate winning the championship – do other clubs have similar things happen when they win the title? of course they do.
i am no imature kid or do i wear “colours” – i am a proud wolves fan and wanted to celebrate as i don’t know if i’ll see similar again in my life time.
i think it has been blown out of all proportion and i wonder if Barnsley fans are getting the same publicty as apparently it is a tradition for them to invade the pitch anyway at the end of the season?

81 – Andy. Absolutely spot on. I hope fans stay off the pitch so that the players can receive the full recognition that they deserve in front of 28,000 happy fans. But some of the comments on here seem to suggest that swine flu has already hit Wolverhampton!
When Reid scored there was no excuses, I personally didnt run on the pitch but there was no trouble and the fans seem to mix together fine. After watching Newcastles spineless performance last night I think they are down and I think Borough or Hull will join them with the tescos. We need to be watching this closely along with promotion but from the teams we should go for:
Albion:
Olsson
Newcastle:
Kevin Nolan
Steven Taylor
Hull:
Geovanni
Turner
Borough:
Gary o neil
Wheater
Pogatetz
I would like to see us get Marlon King as since Hull have lost him and his goals they have gone to pot. Depending on who goes up from our league there is some real quality in the championship:
Joe Ledley
Roger Johnson
Chris Eagles
Steven Hunt
Kevin Doyle
Lee Carsley (who I think will join after the iwelumo incident and the way in which it was handled)
Jimmy Kebe
Marvin Elliott

We have an incredible team spirit at the Wolves but now is not the time for sentiment. If we play the team which started v QPR aganst alot of the prem teams we will get hammered I suggest we keep in the SQUAD:
Hennessey (unless we get 5mil plus)
Murray
Foley
Berra
Craddock
Stearman
Elokobi
Kightly
Jones
Jarvis
Ebanks blake
Keogh
Vokes (who i have heard is going on loan to sheff wed)

On saturday it was OBVIOUS people were going to invade the pitch. The riot police faced the wrong way when they came out in front of our fans the idiots.
In Wolves defence Barnsley invaded the pitch first!
On Sunday i dont think any one would dare invade the pitch again as the players deserve the lap of honour and Foley showing of his player of the year trophy!
YEAH I’M A MORON BECAUSE I CELEBRATED US BEIN CHAMPIONS,
AND DON’T SAY THAT WE ARE HOOLIGANS WHO INVADED THE PITCH BECAUSE THERE WAS WOMEN, CHILDREN AND OLD PEOPLE ON THAT PITCH,
AND AS FOR YOU IDIOTS CALLING IT THE BURBERRY BRIGADE, JUST GET A LIFE AND STOP BEING BORING, FOOOOLS!
I’m afraid that there are many so called supporters who are planning another pitch invasion
on Sunday, it seems to be their latest hobby and funnily enough these people are ‘new’ fans who have only been to the last few games. I’m so fed up that I’m considering not going as there won’t be a presentation of the league trophy and the game itself will be a complete non-event. What a let down for the genuine fans who are going to be prevented from applauding a team getting a trophy for the first time in 20 years
Report abuse
107 – the atmosphere will be absolutely brilliant irrespective of the presentation which after QPR (the icing on the cake) and Barnsley (the cherry on top of the icing on the cake) will be like 100′s and 1000′s sprinkled on top of the cherry on the top of the icing on the cake. Or something like that.

What was the main contributory factor to the Hillsborough tragedy? Answer, – the fences.
So why were the fences there? Answer, to prevent idiots getting onto the pitch. There you go, no need for an independent inquiry – now you know who was to blame.
The fences have gone, to improve our safety – DO NOT BREAK THE COVENANT! STAY OFF THE PITCH! (or may the Ghosts of the Hillsborough dead come and visit you in your nightmares…)

actually could change the venue to Wick, Scotland. The fans need to celebrate, pitch invasions are rather juvenile but seldom much brain power in the stands anyway..

i really hope things dont get spoiled, even tho we have got promotion and are champions, this will be the most nervy of final whistles of the season, just to see if we will get to see what we have waited so long to see or if we just see a few people running around and ruining it for us all………please please dont!!!

Let’s let the players take thier bow and let’s savour the monent on sunday buy giveing them a standing ovation as they walk around the Mol with that trophy.

39 A Blouse fan actually phoned in Radio WM the other night and asked if Wolves were getting any points deducted – Talk about des – peration!!!
Finally; Saying off the pitch – Do we really need a discussion about that??? Sensible fans will listen – others wont – What else is there to say???

Some whingers on here.
I find it quite enjoyable to see a good old-fashioned pitch invasion.
Back in the 70′s it used to happen after every last game of the season, home and away (ok…it was mainly little kids or teens, but it still happened).
Our all-seater stadium seems to have produced the most annoying, unimaginative generation of supporters in the history of the Molineux.
I can understand everyone being overjoyed at the lads gaining the point needed to finish as the champions, but the pitch invasion was just plain stupid and has done the clubs reputation no good at all, i am pleased to see that the other comments here agree , i hope the fans who ran on the pitch can see their wrong doing and all the negative publicity they have bestowed upon the club, any fan who cant see any wrong doing, well they cant call themselves a fan at all really.

What a suprise – shock horror – The southbank fan clearrly demonstrates he has no brain cells.

Sadly I can not be there on the day – as I am so far away.
But the lads need to be able to celebrate the great season they have just had – with the crowd.
Don’t ruin it, for the manager and the team.
The sad thing is – for some of them this will be the last game they play for wolves……………….
