Goal hero Brunt salutes fans
Monday 27th April 2009, 11:30AM BST.
Albion goal hero Chris Brunt today saluted the Baggies fans after another huge show of support for the Premier League’s bottom club.
A sold-out Hawthorns roared Albion to victory against Sunderland on Saturday and showed their support for manager Tony Mowbray despite his side looking doomed to relegation.
And Brunt, who became the team’s outright leading scorer with his seventh goal of the season, said: “The fans have been great, especially in the last two games.
“Even though we lost 4-2 at Manchester City last week they appreciated the effort that we put in and how well we played. “They aren’t daft. They are football people and they can see the way we play. Individual errors and maybe naivety have cost us this season but I think they can see we’re not far away from being a good Premier League side and it’s important that we played well for them.
“They have backed us and in the last two home games we have been disappointing.
“The Bolton and Stoke games were a massive let down and it would have been easy for them to get on top of us and get frustrated but they saw the shift we put in on Saturday and appreciated it.” Brunt’s fourth goal in three matches helped Albion stay alive in the top flight for another week.

I think they should all salute the fans, they have supported the Braggies through thin & thin this season and there aren’t many clubs around who could boast such devotion, to a club that has fared so poorly.
I watched the game on Football First and my first comment was “Look at that crowd” for that I have to say, well done you Braggies fans.
I sincerely hope, you can now pull off the unimaginable and beat the drop, just think of it, 4 West Midlands clubs in the top flight, 18 Derby games, fantastic.

I come on to congratulate the albion on a previous story for getting your first win in 13 after a discraceful, embarresing season in most of your fans eyes. As I was posting I read Terry had put ‘Wolves wont get half the points we have’ and Nedball writing nobody likes Wolves. Firstly, Terry we have won the championship (2 games ago) with already more points than you did and we are not about to lose our 2 best players, infact we are going to strengthen considerably. Our squad is still developing and has an average age of 22. Ned, all season we have had other clubs posting saying ‘wolves belong in the premier’ we have won family club of the year and throughout the football world we are generally held in high regard. The albion however have been a bit of a mockery by Mowbray and next season will average around the same attendance as blues. I am happy the albion won on sat but you two have just summed up what lets albion fans down, after all Terry you said Europe at the beginning of the season?

2 – Shadrag, isn’t it wierd how you said to me it’s all about the banter a week or so ago, but as soon as it’s not nice about the Wolves, then we sum up Albion fans and are a disgrace.
Very strange that?????
Love you Shadrag xxxxxxxx

2. Ned, banter is exactly what it is about. Albion get one win and are not mathematically down so your fans go on to say ‘nobody likes wolves’ and terrys comments. Your comments have no substance, have banter by all means but if your going to try and state facts at least back them up! When I have a bit of banter with you tescos it is a joke but when i state facts such as reduced capacity, no sponsor etc they are facts backed up with evidence!

9 – Terry, that’s not banter as it’s not backed up by 100% actual proof and is based purely upon speculation.
I hereby request that you apologise to poor little Shadrag, and tell him that he looks pretty today please and thank you.

Hahahaha we are premier league boys! Another mass exodus at the albion awaits and I can assure you we will do a great deal better than the albion have from top to bottom of our club. Firstly, we have the clubs record sponsorship deal, you didnt have a sponsor. We have young international players, you had your 3 best players leave. We are targeting experienced premiership players, you bought Valero and Donk. You had your capacity reduced, the chairman is thinking of increasing ours. The future is bright boys, never too late to change colours neddy!
