Bolton 1 Villa 1 – verdict
Saturday 25th April 2009, 4:54PM BST.
Villa’s receding Champions League dream was dealt another blow as Bolton fought back to grab a point at the Reebok Stadium.
Ashley Young had given Martin O’Neill’s side the lead two minutes before half time, but his goal was cancelled out on the hour mark by Trotters midfielder Tamir Cohen.
The result left Villa without a win in their last 12 matches and they have now claimed just four points from their last nine Premier League games.
It represents another missed opportunity for the Claret and Blues.

Come on!!! champions league football was never on from the moment we entered the InterToto, we played too many games with too smaller squad and now we are paying the price.
We should have just accepted what we had and concentrated on our Premiership status.
How many points that we lost, could have been saved had we a fully fit squad, instead of which we had several players out with injury for key games that we would have otherwise won.
In future, forget the Intertoto, its a worthless exercise.
