Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Hennessey targets strong finish

Two wins and two clean sheets – that’s how goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has targeted the climax of the season to ensure Wolves don’t take their foot off the gas.
Hennessey takes the field at Barnsley seeking his seventh shut-out in 10 games, a run that helped secure promotion last Saturday with the 1-0 win against QPR.
The Wales international insists he can’t wait to test himself in the Premier League.
But he wants to finish this campaign on a high first with the Championship title – and five successive wins.
He said: “We can’t wait for the Premier League – we want it to come now – but I don’t think it will hit us properly until after these next two games.
“We’re not going to step down, we want to keep our foot on the gas to finish off with two victories. And I want two more clean sheets as well if I can.
“Just because you look at the table and it tells us Wolves have been promoted that doesn’t mean we ease off.
“The whole team wants clean sheets and we want to win the next two games. We’re still going.”
The ecstatic scenes that followed the QPR game are still fresh in Hennessey’s memory.
He said: “What do I remember most? The final whistle! When that came I was absolutely buzzing, it was magnificent. I sprinted to the lads and then the security people came on and helped me get off the pitch. It was superb.”
“It’s one of those things that happens and the fans were as chuffed as we were that we’d got to the Premier League.”
Hennessey saw the turning point came as the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on March 3, the first of seven wins in nine games.
He said: “We went through that sticky patch, but it turned at Palace. Ever since then we’ve been playing very well and have got the points we needed.
“It’s been a whole team performance extending to the backroom staff, who have been fantastic. It’s well deserved all round.”
