Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Craddock to be offered new deal
Friday 24th April 2009, 11:51AM BST.
Stalwart Jody Craddock will be offered a new deal by Wolves after leading the club back into the Premier League.
The 33-year-old defender, who returned to the first team for the vital closing phase of the promotion quest, has been given the news by manager Mick McCarthy.
The details of the offer have yet to be thrashed out.
But a beaming Craddock said: “The manager has told me there will be something on the table for me at the end of the season so, naturally, I’m delighted.
“I feel I have a part to play in the future and that I’m playing as well as ever.”
Club skipper Craddock was signed for £1.75million from Sunderland by former boss Dave Jones six years ago, for Wolves’ first and ill-fated Premier campaign.
He has been on a roller-coaster ride of fortunes since.
He was sent to Stoke on loan at the beginning of last season when his days at Molineux looked numbered.
But Craddock fought his way back into McCarthy’s reckoning and has emerged as a cult hero with fans.
The centre-half said: “As a defender, you strive for consistency – that’s what you always aim for and I’ve been happy with mine.
“If I could tell the lads anything about what we face now it is the speed of the games they’ll be playing and the quality of the finishing. It’s of another level.
“But we’re in better shape than six years ago and don’t under-estimate the lads here – they’re young, full of energy and very talented. I think they’re going to be
fantastic at the higher level.”
The news ends one of the questions facing Wolves this summer as they plan for a major strengthening.
Only two of the current players, Craddock and David Jones, have Premier League experience – but Craddock, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, will be 34 in July.
But Wolves are not only intent on recruiting experience but on clinging on to what they have.
Craddock’s impressive performances over the final hurdle have convinced McCarthy he can ill afford to cut the veteran free.

Damn good show !! Jody deserves it. He has a lot to offer in terms of experience that will be of great benefit to our young defence I would imagine.

Great news. Craddock i feel is one of the main reasons we turned it around after the bad patch after xmas.
His experience will be vital. He will always give you 110%
Great decision.

Deserved, and a great decision.

I am absoultely thrilled to bits with this news. He has been a true professional throughout even went he was sent out on loan you never heard him complain and he has won the right to stay.

SEB was my player of the season choice, followed by Jody Craddock as a close second, good on you mate you deserve it.
im sorry jody youre a nice bloke and you did well for us in the last dozen games or so. bUt we have to be ruthless even if he is only on the bench we need much more quality players we cannot be giving deals to player of this ilk and this age and this quality.
sorry but this is the wrong decision.

WELL DONE JODY YOU DESERVE IT!!!! CMON LADS LETS CLINCH THAT CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE 2MRA. WOULD MAKE ALL OF THE FANS YEAR !!!!

I am delighted! Brilliant! Jody you deserve it! What a brilliant week this has been long may it continue……….Come on me babbies!! WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE,xxx
Report abuse
We are in the Premiership now and the sentiment continues… a player who’s lack of pace will be totally exposed in the top flight and frankly has never been good enough.
We are going to really struggle next year if he is a regular.
So now what we gonna do with Collins?
Great news but don’t be surprised if he gets a better offer (longer contract) elsewhere and the chance of more playing time. Great message and loyalty from the club though which sends very strong signals to the rest of the squad!
UTW!
Jody has definately earned a contract with his performances of late and his attitude has been 1st class. A lesson to us all!
Shrewd piece of business I am sure he will be a bench player but his experience is going to be invaluable!
Good to see Wolves starting the contracts and transfer talks early!
Nice to see something has happened with Jody BEFORE the season has ended. Wolves have always been somewhat slow in offering contracts in the past, so this is a welcome change for the club.
I hope Jody gets a decent contract for next season, for although he may only become a ‘bit-part’ player, his experience will come in handy when called upon.
thank god he has beeen offered a new contract
he bloody well deserves it

Really pleased about this he has helped us to achieve premiership status. Theres only ONE JODY CRADDOCK.

this lack of pace malarchy is getting boring now. i’d guarantee he’d skin ‘the bionic’ man john terry in the 100 metres

I am really pleased for Jody. He deserves it.
It is no coincidence that our defence stopped leaking goals when he returned to the team. Great player!!!

Jody has been the exemplary and model professional this season, so my heart says well done on winning a deal, mate. He’s been absolutely fantastic for us. If anyone deserves a contract, it’s Jody.
However, my head tells me that he’ll most likely get skinned in the Premier League, especially at 34 years of age, so realistically he can only play a bit-part.
Sad to say, but Wolves can’t allow sentiment to get in the way of progress, no matter how much I hate to say that.

Met Jody last week had a coffee with him What a great artist also by the way ( Creative Framing ) so glad . we will need his experience. Well done . Just need to strengthen in most areas thou. DONT PANIc . we will be ok

great news for jody and it shows the club in good light for sticking by him although at the vetran stage of his career.hopefully mick will fully utilise his experiance and use him as a defensive coach for our young guns. still loving it after a week c-mon on you wolves champs at barnsley tomorrow

Fantastic news – the guy deserves it!
10 & 14 There is no suggestion that he is going to be a regular. He may lack the pace of Berra & Stears (not saying that these will be our regulars next year) but he has the ‘brains & experience of knowing where to be at the right time to deal with the threat. He has been rock solid since getting back in the team. His experience has helped Berra and I’m sure he will be a good ‘mentor’ for someone like Stearman. Well done Wolves for recognising the performances on the pitch of a player that is a credit to the club by offering him a new contract. He deserves it!

BUT THEN AGAIN WE ARE A FAR BIGGER CLUB AND BACK WHERE WE BELONG IN THE PREM NOW JUST LIKE YOU ARE NEXT SEASON IN THE POP LEAGUE…

Agree with re-signing Jody Craddock. I am so old that I remember a certain Bill Slater during our halcyon days. He was an irregular first teamer and in today’s conditions, would probably have been released. Yet he came back the following season to lead Wolves to a Cup Final and became Player of the Year. Let’s hope Jody can emulate him.
So far, the vast majority of posters on here are in favour of this decision and delighted for Jody. So am I – he deserves it and we can afford it. He has maturity, experience and dignity – a fine club captain. His contribution in recent games has been immense. At his age, he may have to consider other options, depending on what we offer him, but he still has a part to play if he stays.
Most of you are stupid on this site
lets look at the contracts given out to players
Keogh ward collins craddock and 1 0r 2 others they are not prem class players.
If we intend to play this type of player, we may as well put the white flag up now.
I hope that we are not just talking big and end up signing poor quality
Report abuse
Top pro! A well deserved reward, and a shining example to the young guns!
Jody has done well for the club BUT wasnt that good 5 years ago in the Prem
Rewarding loyalty is one thing – but is that based on sentiment or abillity???
Berra needs a Prem Proven Player to partner him in the Prem – Jody is great at Championship level – the strikers in the Prem will turn him inside out – even the ones in the bottom half of the Prem league
Is Stearman not a better choice to sit on the bench in the Prem with a more experienced player alongside Berra???
Great bloke – many thanks and all that BUT not really a serious choice even as a squad player in the Prem – along with the likes of N Collins etc – Time to make that list of “exit players” and Wolves should be looking at enhancing the squad; raising the bar to a better level – Jody imv is not quick enough/ Would he make any of the other teams squads in the lower Prem clubs? – imv NO
Forget the feel good factor – or dont moan when we find lower Prem team strikers turning our defence inside out next season – Even as a “squad player” – would Jody cost us goals at a higher level – nothing personal – I for one believe that Jody couldnt cope in the Prem – even as a sub – No room for sentiment
Report abuse
I am with all those who have hailed this as a good move by the club and agree with the majority of the positive comments made about Jody. My earlier inoffensive post expressing my own views and congratulations seems to have failed to go through. (Happened to me a few times recently)
Surely it should be a case of thank you and good bye.
Brilliant at Championship Level but was’nt good enough for the Premiership 6 yrs ago, so why would he be good enough now?
If this is the sign of things to come we are in BIG trouble
Report abuse
At last some commonsense I have been asking about this for weeks. JC has been immense in defence stopping almost everything coming his way. How was Ince before he retired JC is years younger!!
This is great news!
Jody never had much pace and as he’s got older, like a lot of players with genuine class, his positional play has gone from strength to strength. In or out of the team, Jody’s experience and temperament will play a vital role in keeping us up next year.
Quality! :D
Report abuse
Still people moan !!!
Jody has been immense since his return. He deserves a contract. He may not play every week in the prem, but his experience will be fantstic for our current and future defenders.
Premier League here we come !!!!
Congrats Jody lad, you’v earned it. Never a minutes trouble & a top bloke. Keep defendin’ & keep Paintin’!!
I cnnot believe wolves fans think that footballers who are not good enough for the top flight get a new contract because they are model professionals… it just isn’t a reason. The guy is not premiership class… when we are getting turned inside out, will yo walk away from the games, happy we have a model pro or do you wish the penny had dropped that we need toinvest in quality players? Alot of model pro’s in the team that was relegated in bottom place under Dave Jones.
Great, all we need now are Luzhny, Silas and Iverson back and we’ll have the useless team from Dave Jones era.
GREAT TOO SEE JODYS PART OF THE REASON WEVE GONE UP
BE NICE IF HE COULD FINNISH HIS CAREAR WITH US
UNSUNG HERO!!!
Come on people ! need to seriously lighten up !
In my opinion Over the last two seasons jody has improved tremendously ! and the fact people are not pleased that he is being kept on is beyond me !
he is arguebaly are best centre back at present so why should we let him go !
who would you rather see Collins or Craddock on the bench! Yeah i can agree that he might not b good enough but we all said that about paul butler when he was 32 in the premier ! and as it comes he was arguably our best player then ! But JC has been outstanding for us the past 8 games n deserves a new contract.
His experience can only helpwolves younger players !
I cannot believe all the negative comments! Jody has been awesome since his return plugging a very leaky back four, he may only play a few times in the Prem but his experience will be much needed!
35 – We cannot sign anyone at the moment as the window has not reopened! Reserve judgement until it does & MM announces his retained list.
It gets better & better!
Now people are comparing Jody with Paul Ince as a player???
How many international England caps did Jody get and was he ever captain at international level or played for Man U or Liverpool or Inter Milan??? Is that a NO then???
It ceases to amaze that this “feel good factor” is spilling over – There are several players who wouldnt even make the lower Prem teams squads and some on here want to offer them contracts based on what – Loyalty – Model Professional???
Base decisions on sentiment and we will pay dearly for this in the Prem – When you need a new car – do you keep replacing old parts with new and wait for bigger problems or do you wise up and realise that nothing lasts forever and imrovements are needed???
& as for moaning??? – Stating the obvious isnt moaning or do people believe that a different opinion is classed as “moaning” because they have no explanation themselves???
Craddock has been nothing but a model prfessional from day 1. He seems like a top bloke aswell. Absolutely deserves it and I hope he will be with wolves a long time in the backroom when he hangs up his boots.
well done craddock u deserve it
Report abuse
I have to agree with some comments that he would not be the quickest in the prem but no player desrves it more than him!! Just look back at when he scored his goal recently.
Balance of young and experiance is what is needed next season so lets wait and see.
This might sound a bit hard – but why???
As much as I admire Jodys hard work, and the fact that he helped us secure promotion, he doesnt have the quality to play PL football anymore.
You cant give a player a new contract out of respect for what they HAVE done. You have to see, what they CAN do for you. If he is such a good person to have around, and good for the young players, give him a contract as “coach” then.
I admire Micks loyalty to some players, but quite frankly, players such as Ward, Collins, Henry, AND Craddock will be totally of the pace in the PL.
I appreciate them helping us to gain promotion, but unlike others, I do not thinkt that means they should get a chance in the PL.
We cant afford to waste half af season, for Mick to realize that these players arent good enough for Premiership football, no matter how hard they work.

He has done well but he struggled last time in the Premiership and like a number of others I can only see him being a squad player!

It is easy to have opinions and not so easy when managing.
A balance is needed and having Craddock for another season would be much needed in consistency and above all belief that the team cam still perform albeit with more strengthening.
Forward the Wolves!!!

Ridiculous decision.Couldnt cut it in the Prem 5 years ago. What chance now??At best an average Championship performer
Still not his fault good luck to him.
he should be playing leg 1 football not premier what a muppet mick is
Report abuse
Wrong decision.
No doubt Craddock was a crucial part of our getting over the finishing line this season but he has no pace, his distribution is suspect and he was awful in the Prem 5 years ago.
I understand people saying he deserves to be recognised for his part in promotion but sentimentality will not keep us up. I’m sure he received a promotion bonus along with the other players. That is reward enough. We should move on.
well done jody, well deserved..brummy rob you,ve hit the nail on the head thats exactly what he,s gonna be.

“Yeah i can agree that he might not b good enough but we all said that about paul butler when he was 32 in the premier ! and as it comes he was arguably our best player then”
While age doesnt mean that you are not good enough, when it comes to Craddock AND Butler these players wherent good enough.
We led in 77 goals in that season, and while it wasnt all Butlers fault, he surely most have played his part.
As for Craddock, he was the other part of that “iron curtain” defence, and I do doubt that he is any better, 6 years down the road..
10 and 41 I kind of agree with you, Jody is great in the Championship but that maybe is his best level. He was bought when Lescott had his knee hammered (literally, but lets not go there, I think most know that story). In the Prem last time he struggled but then again he and Butler were not exactly blessed with pace. However the sad thing is currently he is still the best centre back we have available at the club, i.e. Berra, Stearman, Shakell, D.Ward, Collins are not better. That is the problem, I believe Stearman will improve but I was not that impressed with him and Mancienne together. Mancienne seems loathe to attack any ball in the air and when they played together they were constantly too square, it was only both of their blinding pace that got them out of trouble, take a look at the Blues home game and you will see what I mean. I’m not sure about Berra either, to me he has been told to do the simple thing but so long as Collins does that he looks better than Berra. What I like to see in a centre back pairing is for one to commit to winning the ball but at the same time the partner should assume that the striker is going to win it and drop 4-5 yards off, but it needs both to work like this in tandem. I watched Berra and Craddock do this quite well against Cardiff a few weeks back, but last Saturday there were times when I thought Berra was lacking. Hopefully things will improve with both Berra and Stearman but on the whole I think it’s probably a good thing to have Jody there next season. Don’t forget there is more to playing each game and his experience in training could prove invaluable. We have a big squad at Wolves and it needs to be trimmed of the deadwood such as Collins, D Ward, Shackell, Dan Jones, Gobern, Gleeson, Little, Potter and all the loan signings. I would also like to think in training that Iwelumo (best srtiker in the air since Goodman and Dougan earlier) takes Vokes under his wing, I think he could teach the kid a lot there. All in all we have a very young squad who will get better but they may have be more on the fringe next year. There is no room for sentiment but the nucleus does need to stay. I would much prefer we signed 3 or 4 top quality Premier League players than 6 or 7 mediocre ones.

Some people have very very short term memories on here
JC was part of a Sunderland team that let in oodles of goals and were relegated from the Prem
Yes he was the “best” of a bad bunch – so what?
Wolves bought him to fill the gap left by Joleon Lescott – No comparision imv for £1.75m
JC was part of a Wolves team that got hammered regularly in the Prem – as Steve Bull said “rabbitts in headlights” “men against boys” and that was 5 years ago!!!
It may not have been entirely down to JC – But If people cannot/ will not open their eyes and see that history in most cases does repeat itself WHY do they think that JC can help as most of his memories of the Prem is how to fail to avoid conceeding more than 4 to 5 goals a game!
As for JC playing a bit part – it only takes minutes to score!
Yes, Well done and thanks for helping us get promoted BUT its time to move forward – There are other centre halfs out there who will/ can do a better job than JC – and the likes of Berra needs someone he can develope a partnership at centre half – for at least a couple of seasons until we can bring on Stearman
I just hope that this is not a sign of things to come
MM may have been able to shield the likes of N Collins etc at Championship level BUT there will be no room to hide in the Prem as players who cant cut it will be “exposed” very quickly and I for one hope that the embarressment that could be caused as a result doesnt happen in the first place!
Finally would any of you out there give the likes of Karl Henry, N Collins Jody Craddock Premiership pay rises or would you prefer to spend that money on tried and tested Prem Proven Players who can and will be able to cope week in week out???
Between now and the start of Pre season is the time to make progress NOT hope and wait till the January window
Yes there are no guarantees in life BUT you need to at least try and arm the team with the right tools for the job!
IMV No room for sentiment and certainly NO room for passengers – I really hope that MM sees sense and offloads the ones who cant cut it in the Prem – Improve the squad MM as next season can pan out 2 ways: 1)Slow and painfull or 2)We will at least stand a chance of survival!!!
Just ask our neighbours down the road how they have felt all season and then say that you want JC because he is a “loyal servant”
The wrong choices will cost us dearly – JC will be great in the Championship but imv not in the Prem!
Only rarely have I been critical of Mick McCarthy ,but I think he is out of order putting the boot into his former critics ,surely actions should speak louder than words.I think Mick should stay fully focused on doing a lot better job with the Wolves in the Premier than he did with Sunderland. As for Jez Moxey an ex Wolves pro came on this site some months ago,and said he remembered the many previous failings, and he would only start positively judging Jez’s record when we start our second consecutive season in the Premier.I think that is a very fair assessment.
My, we are a fickle lot aren’t we ? Only last weekend as me, my lad and his mate journeyed round the pubs in Wolverhampton lapping up the atmosphere (and the beer !!) The song “There’s only one Jody Craddock” was heard so many times it was unbelievable. I really do wonder how many of you know anything about football at all !!
Yes, Jody is getting on, he’s not very fast, and he may have had a torrid time in the Prem 5 years ago. He’s had another 5 years experience since then. If you’d really watched that QPR game last week you would have seen really how good he is. He doesn’t need the speed. His speed is in his head….his anticipation of a situation developing and getting himself in a position to deal with that is the important thing. You can be the football equivalent of Usain Bolt, but if you can’t read a game, you’re dead in the water. As pointed out by one or two of the more sensible fans, he will not be anything but a squad player. Maybe coming on with a quarter of an hour to go to shore things up. But hey, what experience to bring on. He has an awful lot of experience he can pass on to the youngsters and I think that is probably why MM has kept him. There’s no keeping him on because he’s been a loyal servant. He’ll be kept on because MM can see something the team will benefit from.
Now, for heaven’s sake will some of you go back to your Playstations and put Football Manager in..that’s about your level I’m afraid. leave the real football management to those that know what they’re doing.

nice sentiment – but wrong in my opinion. Whilst I’m sure he’s a nice guy to have around the dressing room, will he do a job for us next season? Probably not. The season after – prem or championship? Probably not.
Like the guy, decent player for us – but wrong call.

Absolutely fantastic news, since he came in from his injury, the lad has been awesome. He turned around the season for us and his partnership with Berra is brilliant. His experiance will be vital too.

some people are remarkable. how shortsighted can you all be? theres alot more to football than 90mins on a saturday afternoon, tbh he might only make 5 games next year but who cares? its what he does off the field thats gonna be important. weve got a young suad thats gonan nedd some guidance this season so if his role as more of a player coach deal or pay as you play then its all good.
remember anyone coming in has to settle themselves before they can have a settling effect on the younger players so i hope we sign him up sharpish. im really glad this club isnt run by some of the dimwhits posting on here. have faith and we’ll be in stokes position this time next year…. but with more style ofcourse ;)

We were terrible in Premier league with Jody as our center-half 6 yrs ago…We can’t survive in Premier with Jody…6 yrs after!!!

Quite simply we have been promoted due to our good run of form recently and Jody has been a massive part of this. Stability in defence and a threat from corners.
Well deserved.
Premier League class? As backup and from the bench, yes. 38 games a season? Fraid not.
Glad to have him there though.
Well that is great news………..one of the best players this season and coming back from a loan too!!!!A real professional.
Happy for craddock because he definately deserves his new contract? but i think it may well be in, he gets the odd game or so next season to close shop!!! we do need to strengthen without doubt in many area’s, we dont want to be in the premier league just to make the numbers up and come back down like we did before.
I’m looking for wolves to sign fast want to learn players like mancienne!! think thats how you spell it, who can learn new things off the older players like craddock, to me it’s interesting to see who we sign before the season starts, Then i think you can judge what will happen or have a good idea where we are going.
What nobody has mentioned is that if you have ambitions to become an established premier club YOU NEED A BIG SQUAD! In JC you know exactly what you are getting. Most signings need time to settle in and we need to hit the ground running on the FIRST DAY of PRE SEASON! Jody will do that for us, he is the club captain (and how many leaders have we got, really?). Get someone like Mancienne in alongside him and we’ll be ok, at least for a few matches next season, maybe more than a few…
Report abuse
If JC is willing to sit and watch then this is good for all. At his age he only has a season or two left and would be better moving to a club where he will play. If he stays great as he will be a great squad member. Rock solid in every way.
This is good news and the guy deserves it! He has worked hard for the team and given his all! No 63 some of what you say is true but Jody deserves to be part of the Premiership campaign. I don’t think he will be a major player but called on when needed. We can’t kick guys like him in the teeth now just because we are promoted. Yes we will offload certain players but Jody has been a rock! Up the Wolves!
It’s great for Jody, however I can see the views by the fans who echo Jody’s failure in the past for us the last time we were in the top flight and he isn’t getting any younger, this would, although good for Jody with experience at the Premier League level, put a bit of a dent to the spin of getting tried and tested with paying higher wages.
But anyway what’s also interesting reports from Liverpool suggest we are looking to take up one their youngsters in 17 year old Jack Metcalf, a defender, one for the future at least to me we are not stopping the successful transfer policy over the last three seasons.
Experience is needed for next season and more of it plus needed quality lets see what happens come the pre-season, I also suspect that Shackell, D Ward and maybe Collins could be heading for the exit door? In truth they should be if want to stay in the prem.
Good news for Jody, and well desrved.
I do think he’ll be playing a bit part and more of a behind the scenes aquisition. Let’s be honest, he would be exposed in the prem and we need to strenghthen in all areas. Having said that, he is still the best cetre half that we have. I would prefer him to all the others, that does exactly fill me with confidence though.
Well done Jody, great professional and will hopefully be working on the training ground more often than Old Trafford.
with mm eye for a centre half i see this as a good signing.no doubt he will sign a couple of centre halves who will be as useless as collins and ward and shackell. at least jody will still be at club to improve things once again, jody has been great over past couple of seasons for us so well done but still hope his games will be limited by two premier quality centre halves but i doubt it

65 – Songs sung in pubs were about JC BUT get it into perspective “One JC” refers to a Championship campaign; as for 5 years of experience – In which league? – ah yes – Championship league
Nothing to do with fickle – just common sense – An older player doesnt become faster; and JC’s “experience” of the Prem – 5 years ago was “frightening” as Steve Bull said about the whole team at the time “Rabbits in headlights” “Men against Boys”
In both Sunderland and Wolves teams back then – JC was part of teams that regularly got spanked by more than 4 goals per game average!
Its NOT personal against JC – Wolves will have a budget for wages – and JC isnt going to accept what he is being paid in the Championship – he’ll want Prem wages – So do we spend one set of Prem wages on a player who may/ may not play a handfull of games? Or do we get in someone who is a Prem Proven Player???
JC failed at Prem level TWICE – his last time was 5 years ago – Is he better now for his experience in a lower league? Has the Prem got worse or better since 5 years ago? Are the players in the Prem slower than 5 years ago?
No room for sentiment or passengers – Thanks JC for everything – Next!

So many comments miss the point!
One key reason that Wolves have not been in the Premier in recent years is that they have not had consistent managers.
Fans have pushed out so many top Managers including Ex England Managers, Taylor & Hoddle. The latest attempt was MM, another International Manager. Before I hear shouts of disapproval, whilst Hoddle was not in my view the best Wolves Manager, he was still good enough to manage England.
So my view is we should let MM manage, get off his back and instead, get behind his decisions.
I also flag a warning for next year. I think it unlikely that we will do much better than 3rd quartile position. We will loose games & certain fans will start baying for MMs head (you know who you are!)
Give the man time to consolidate our position and then to move forward.
Does Man United change its manager every 2-3 years & what succes have they had?
Let’s divert our energies to supporting the team & the Manger!!
KEEP THE FAITH!!

79. Usual Suspects… appreciate what you’re saying my friend, but can’t agree with you. You seem fixated with this ‘thing’ about being fast. Yes it helps, but if you can’t think fast then you’re dead. That is one thing that JC has in his favour. As I’ve already said it’s his ability to read a situation and react that gives him the edge over someone who is ten times faster at running. JC will not be a regular, but as a squad player he will be invaluable

firstly id just like to say congratulations, some time ago i said what a pleasure it had been to be a wolves fan this season. im under no illusion i realise that next season is going to be hell ! we are going to get bent over a few clubs knees have our pants pulled down and get spanked, in sight of this and with micks 3 year plan in our minds why not get behind him and support our team come survival relegation or even success i will be there behind my team until the end ! i will say this though id like to see some stadium plans for filling in those corners so we can create a bit more noise and make our voices echo around the ground to make up for those who dont utter a word when were behind, were gonna need our 12th man next season

Warning signs starting to appear before the season is over.Whilst agreeing that Jody has had a good season does it really justify a new contract to play premiership football approaching your 34th birthday, aligned with the long term contracts awarded to Collins,Ward,Keogh etc it frightens me to think that MM can seriously consider these players to have the ability to compete in the Prem.Whilst i am not calling for MM’s head and do believe he deserves a chance to manage Wolves in the prem i am a tad concerned with his last effort Sunderland relegated 105 goals conceded. In my opinion the above mentioned players + 1/2 others should be shipped out and players of proven Premiership quality need to be signed. To sum up i just hope that SM/JM really want sustained premiership football and are not doing an Albion by preparing for an instant return to the championship.

65.Filton I dont need a playstation to see that Jody is not good enough for the prem.If he was at Stoke/Portsmouth etc would we sign him? People like me are called idiots because we do not agree with some of the rosetinted views.Whilst i agree Mick deserves his chance in the prem lets not forget his last effort with Sunderland 105 goals conceded.Backbone of that defence yes Jody Craddock And Breen.Goals conceded this season 52.Contracts for Collins Ward ETC.If we are serious about a ling term future in the prem then we need to be looking at experienced premiership quality and not 34 year old players.Only my Opinion.

84 I hear what you are saying BUT my big concern is that JC as a sqaud player is taking some of the wage bill as a Prem player – Is it not wiser to move for a Prem Proven Player that can handle the Prem as it is today and not 5 years ago?
Imv We have about 6 or 7 that can make up the squad in the Prem BUT JC has had 2 major failures in the Prem and I dont believe 3rd time is going to be lucky???
Finally as a Wolves player has stated the jury is out as far as Moxey is concerned; I just hope that he actually does the job of persuading Prem Proven Players this time around
Over the moon with winning the Championship – lets enjoy the moment while it lasts!!!

Absolutely the right decision.
In the Premier League, what we will need above everything else is a proper leader.
We need men to pick the lads up whether we are getting hammered or are playing a bore draw. It is the bedrock of any successful Premiership team.
With such a young squad, old experienced heads such as Jody’s will be invaluble.

86 & 87 Agreed – decisions based on sentiment will end in tears – Craddock failed twice as part or 2 different Prem teams over 5 years ago and the teams conceeded goals galore!!!
Even as a “squad” player – imv we would be far better bringing in players that “can do” now in the Prem – Craddock is very close to the finish of his career – He hasnt got any positive experiences of the Prem – just lots of conceeding 4 or more goals per game – 3rd time wont be lucky – let JC finish his career with some dignity in the Championship – where he can shine
Right now – most Wolves fans are on a “crest of a wave” based on winning the Championship league – No teams that survive in the Prem this season would be busting a gut to sign Craddock – even for their squads
And as for MM; Not anti anyone BUT would like to see the man get off his “soap box” regarding the minority of Wolves fans as he is acting like a premadonna – Yes congratulations and well done BUT instead of making a finer point of it – try and understand that the fans one and all are passionate and unpaid – most of who have been around for years and years – the boos etc are NOT exclusive to just Wolves either – and as much as most fans dont agree with boos – it happens at all clubs – You dont hear Wenger going on about it when Ebou was booed or look at Blues etc etc etc Cheer up MM and think of your achievement – that’s an answer in itself – What more do you need to prove???
NB* Someone mentioned Metcalfe from Liverpool – 17 year old defender released by them – they say he is v good – never seen him – anyone have any info?
