Blur fans sleep out for tickets
Friday 24th April 2009, 11:30AM BST.
Scores of Blur fans slept on the streets of Wolverhampton overnight to be sure of getting their hands on tickets to see the Britpop icons at the city’s Civic Hall.
Tickets went on sale at 9am today for the much-anticipated reunion concert on June 24.
They could only be bought in person from Midland Box Office in Queen Square, prompting determined fans, some armed with blankets, chairs and sleeping bags, to queue overnight.
Around 150 people were waiting outside the box office by 8am and the first in the queue, a group of students, had been there since 10.45pm last night.
Blur, whose hits including Parklife and Girls And Boys, will perform at the Civic just days before they take to the stage at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset.
