Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has vowed his ‘young and hungry’ charges will get the chance to fulfil their Premier League dream.

He insists the team spirit won’t be lost amid the expected flurry of new signings.

The Wolves boss wants to strengthen his promotion-winning squad with experienced Premier League campaigners, to give the team the best chance of survival next season.

But he also believes the camaraderie that has bound his young guns would be key to them staying up.

He said: “We’ve got players who have earned the right to play in the Premier League. I’d like to give them all that opportunity.

“Our players have been great but we need to sign some others. There aren’t many players that get picked out of the Championship to play in the Premier League, but the best ones sometimes do.

“We’ve got some of the finest, because we’ve just been promoted. You never get the 11 top players in each position but we’ve got the best team.

“That in itself is a fantastic achievement, but we’ll need some Premier League players to go with them.”

McCarthy added: “The spirit of the club and the ethos of the club wants to remain the same. The club is run superbly well from top to bottom and that would be the case even if we hadn’t got promoted.

“That has to remain and if we can retain it then we’ll be OK.

“I’m not talking about myself in that, I’m talking about from Steve (Morgan) down to whoever might be sweeping the terraces – it’s a great club.”
