Albion 0 Stoke 2
Saturday 4th April 2009, 4:02PM BST.
Goals two minutes into each half from Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie leave Albion a real mountain to climb for survival in the Premier League.
16:47: Full-time whistle blows.
16:36: Albion have the ball in the net but Marc Antoine Fortune is offside for the Baggies.
16:20: Chris Brunt, now playing at left wing-back, rattles the cross bar with a rocket for the Baggies.
16:16: Jonathan Greening, Jay Simpson and Paul Robinson replaced by Robert Koren, Felipe Teixiera and Roman Bednar for the Baggies- it’s a last throw of the dice.
16:04: James Beattie uses his strength to plough through and get the second goal for Stoke.
16:2: Second-half begins.
15:47: Half-time whistle blows.
15:39: Chris Brunt’s turns Andy Wilkinson and puts a cross into the box which four Albion players fling themselves at, but none can connect.
15:13: The ball falls to James Morrison to strike on the volley but he makes a hash of it, and Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen gathers easily.
15:05: Glenn Whelan flips the ball up and over the wall from a set-piece but Carson puts the ball out for a corner.
15:02: Ricardo Fuller breaks through a poor Albion back-line and puts in a tame shot that somehow beats goalkeeper Scott Carson for the opening goal.
15:00: Game kicks off.
14:30: Teams in at the Hawthorns: -
Albion: Carson, Zuiverloon, Martis, Olsson, Robinson, Morrison, Greening, Borja Valero, Brunt, Fortune, Simpson.
Subs: Kiely, Hoefkens, Koren, Bednar, Moore, Dorrans, Filipe Teixeira.

OKAY WERE GOING DOWN FOR SURE, SO WHAT I SUGGEST TO MOWBRAY REPLACE MOST OF THE TEAM, STARTING WITH CARSON AND BRING IN A PROPER KEEPER WHO CAN COMMAND HIS AREA, CATCH THE BALL, A GOOD SHOT STOPPER, AND IS ABOUT 7 FOOT TALL, AND MOST OF ALL WONT LET THE BALL GO THROUGH HIS LEGS
Report abuse
There are still 24 points to play for. You can’t blame Mowbray and Venus. It’s the players who aren’t good enough. Maybe they’ll do some extra training and win the last few matches. Fingers crossed.

I would urge restraint amongst the gloaters in gold and black. Wolves are not promoted yet!!
Perhaps if some of you lot came to games instead of sitting at home moaning there might be a bit more money to spend. In other words, if you can’t be bothered to turn up, belt up.

This is Captain Obvious. Every time Valero plays, it all goes to pot. This guy is the most expensive flop of all time, and as for Carson…WAH!!

The writing was on the wall from day one, nowhere near good enough for the premier league, will be years before you get back. You should change your name to the yoyo,s albion or even better fold the club up before you go into league one with Walsall.
Yet another gutless performance, all pass and no end result yet again, how long before this manager takes his head out of his arsenal and realises that IT IS NOT WORKING, wrong players bought, wrong tactics used, wrong manager in charge, new season next year, new manager in charge.

It’s good night from Tone and good night from Peace. Will the last one out of The Hawthorns please turn out the light

The defending is a joke. TM has said all season we are getting it right. LMAO. I have seen better defending on a parks pitch on a Sunday.
When TM came to Albion has said he remembered how the Ron Atkinson team played, well Tone this team would not lace the boots of the Ron’s team cause I am old enough to remember them too.
Give me Godden, Mulligan, Batson, Bomber Brown, Cantello, Regis, Wile, Robertson, Ali Brown, Regis, Cunningham any day that the crap we have now. Enough said.
1978 cup semi final with John Wile’s bandaged head will live with me forever, even though we got beat. No shirkers in that team

It’s sad really seeing the comments above. Probably most of them were shouting out loud at the end of last season how great the Baggies were when you were promoted. Yet, looking at the times of the posts not one of the above was at todays game. I am no Baggies fan but I am absolutely disgusted at coments above. When you really support your team and watch them, laying your hard earned money on the table, then you may be worthy of a moan. I now know why I have respect for Terry, Happy, Nedball, Sutton, Worcester and Bomber – they are your real fans and deserve the right to moan ( guys, I feel for you). You other so called Baggies fans can go and take a long run off a very very short pier.

P.S. and that goes for some of you very sad Wulfies posing as Baggies fans !!

44 / 45: Flintwolf. Myself, my son and daughter are season ticket holders in the East Stand. I have evey right to criticise the team I lay my hard earned money out on. I have supported WBA for over 40 years and have watched them through good and bad.
Just as a side note I manage an under 15′s football team who can defend better than the rubbish on Saturday.
Let me ask you one questionand to all who have blogged on this page, how can a 6ft plus strapping defeneder be bullied like he did with Fuller? First thing I say to under 15′s is deal with the ball in the air. Martis did not and was punished. Joke defending.
Flint wolf, bye they way i have advocated TM and JP but like the majority of Albion fans have lost patience with the team. Yes I admit I booed but after the final whistle. Oh, was the ture Albion fans you state there at the final whistle or like half of the stadium empty with 15 minutes to go? I have never left any game even if we was 5-0 down until that final whistle has blown.
Filton.
Thanks. I stayed to the end, I didn’t boo anyone an fact I clapped the players off, a little half hearedly perhaps but they didn’t go out to lose did they? I’ve defended TM all season and will continue to do so, his team selection was totally wrong on Saturday for this game, the midfield was too lightweight and Bednar should start every game in my opinion. Having said that, changing managers again is not the answer. Just like few of the ones on your side that wanted MM sacked will admit to it now, few of the ones above will admit to wanting to give TM a 10 year contract last season. I support the club, the manager and the players.
PS I think your lot are up and good luck to you, not wanting to sound nasty, you’ll need it, along with a load of money. Anyway enjoy the ride, however it turns out.
