Young Wolves charger Nicolai Klindt is looking to two Black Country speedway greats for inspiration.
The Dane is taking advice from former world champions Erik Gundersen and Sam Ermolenko as he bids to make his mark on the sport.
Cradley great Gundersen reckons the 20-year-old can go all the way in the sport – providing he maintains his focus.
“Some big words from a big man,” said Klindt appreciatively. “I know I need to be more professional than I’ve been before, to have better fitness, eat a bit better.
“I had a little talk about things with him because he’s also under-21 national coach.” Klindt’s winter fitness campaign was certainly a knockout. “I’ve been boxing twice a week!” he said.
“I didn’t fight or anything, but I have been training at a local club.I’ve been, in the winter, for a jog of three to five kilometres four to five days a week. I’ve been doing my fitness before, but not as much as I’ve done now. And I really think it’s doing me good.”
While Gundersen has addressed Klindt’s overall approach, Wolves legend Ermolenko has been dealing with the specifics – including an engine tweak that saw the Dane rocket between Joonas Kylmakorpi and Lee Richardson on Monday as the Parrys International Wolves beat Lakeside.
