Harriers Go Ape in forest

Tuesday 31st March 2009, 11:30AM BST.

GO APE 4 SL 27Kidderminster Harriers players have helped kick off a new high-wire outdoor adventure course in the Wyre Forest.

The Go Ape High Wire Forest gives thrill seekers the chance to walk the line 40ft in the air. It is based on a similar design to 17 other courses around the country.

The course is split into five separate sections, linked together by footpaths. Each section begins with a rope ladder climb into the trees, where an assortment of obstacles and swings lead to a zip slide back to the forest floor. Harriers manager Mark Yates said: “Go Ape is going to give many people a chance to experience something exciting and a bit different.”

Go Ape will be creating 15 jobs at the new course at Wyre Forest Discovery Centre, in Callow Hill, Bewdley.

The course has a minimum age of 10, a minimum height of 4ft 7in and a maximum weight of 20.5st. Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult. One adult can supervise up to two children, where one or both is under 16, or up to five aged16-17.
