New Kidderminster board member Keith Chandler insists he expects nothing in return from his substantial cash injection into the club.

The local businessman, a partner in Pershore-based Architects Clist & Chandler, was confirmed late last week after lengthy discussions with chairman Barry Norgrove and his fellow directors.

His company have strong links to the club as well, they were involved in the original building of what now is the main stand at Aggborough back in 1935.

It is believed a bid of around £50,000 was required to secure a seat on the board, although Norgrove has previously insisted a rigorous screening process was in place to make sure any potential candidate was right for the club.

Now Chandler is in – and he is not interested in financial gain, only what his best for his lifelong team.

He said: “Barry, the Board and I have come to a financial agreement but I would say that I don’t see it for one minute as an investment. To me, an investment comes with a financial return whereas this, you have to look upon as a donation.

“To be fair to the Board, I asked for a lot of information about a lot of things and all of that information – everything I asked for – was properly provided without hesitation or any conditions.

“I don’t expect any financial return – that’s not what I’m interested in and I can live with that.”
