The parents of a 29-year-old man shot dead at a village post office in Worcestershire have returned to work.

Craig Hodson-Walker was shot in the chest during a raid at the family-run Fairfield General Stores at Fairfield.

Volunteers at the village near Bromsgrove have been manning the store since it reopened three weeks after the shooting in January.

But Mr Hodson-Walker’s father Ken, who was injured in the attack, and mother Judy have now returned to work.

Four men have been charged with their son’s murder and remain in custody.

Belbroughton Councillor Janice Boswell paid tribute to the couple today. “They are a wonderful couple, very brave and courageous.

“What happened is obviously a shock that they will never get over. But the community has rallied round, the help has been wonderful.

James Bradley, chairman of Belbroughton and Fairfield Parish Council, said the family had been gradually taking on a bigger role in running the shop.

“Ken and Judy have asked me to say how very grateful they are to all the volunteers who have worked in the shop and also to the community as a whole,” he said.

The four men charged with the murder will not appear in court again until July 10.
