Stourbridge 3 Tiverton 0

Monday 30th March 2009, 6:46AM BST.

Stourbridge FCStourbridge are in buoyant mood after collecting another three precious points in their bid to remain in the Premier Division with a 3-0 win over Tiverton.

In windswept wet conditions, the Glassboys opened the scoring after  20 minutes when James Dyson lifted a cross in from the right towards the six-yard box, with Shane Benjamin managed to get in a downward header that crept inside visiting custodian Steve Book’s left hand post.

The home side threatened again in the 35th minute, with Ashley Langford digging out a 20-yard shot that Book pushed aside for a corner.

Tiverton finished the half on the attack and they almost drew level a minute before the break.

Mike Booth found Jamie Mudge who curled a shot against the post. After the restart the Devon side pushed the Glassboys back, but struggled to break down the home defence.

Mudge went close for the visitors with a 48th minute shot from just outside the box that flew narrowly wide.

Stourbridge hit back and on 70 minutes a deep right-wing cross from Langford set up an opportunity for Benjamin whose header drifted wide of the far post.

Just a minute later though the Glassboys extended their advantage.

A throw-in from Langford into the box was collected by Sam Rock who turned and hit a low shot past Book.

With four minutes left Stourbridge made the game safe, as Aaron Drake delivered in a cross from the left and Linden Dovey outjumped Book to glance a header into the net.
