Robbo’s rant gets Bednar blessing
Saturday 28th March 2009, 11:28AM GMT.
Albion striker Roman Bednar today gave his backing to Paul Robinson over the defender’s blast at the lack of passion in the Baggies team.
Leading scorer Bednar says Robinson was right to sound off about the attitude of some of the Hawthorns squad.
Robinson questioned the battling spirit in the camp and Bednar has now backed the long-serving full-back by calling on the team to show more fight.
“I agree with Robbo absolutely,” said Bednar. “Nobody has spoken about his comments in the dressing room but I think that’s because we don’t need to because people know he’s right.
“Some players would not get away with big words but Robbo can say these things because he has the right attitude and shows it every day.
“Every since I first came to the club I have been impressed by Robbo because he is the one who puts in 100 per cent every day and whatever is happening.
“Robbo can say whatever he wants about attitude and nobody can question him because he works at his maximum every day and in every match. I agree with everything he said.”
Meanwhile, Bednar has insisted that Tony Mowbray’s side can still win their battle for Premier League survival despite the seven-point gap between them and the safety line.
“If people don’t believe that we can stay in the league then they shouldn’t be on the pitch,” said Bednar.
“Nobody can give up because we still have eight matches to play and they are all games that we can win.”

And those players that they are referring to are Mowbray purchases. He knew or should have known all about their attitudes before spending all of the dosh.

Not a football fan but do people who pay good money to watch WBA feel, it is a farce about staying in the premiership, if they go down and then come back the next season, as they did previously they get megga money for getting back up !!!!! how does that make you feel, I think it is all planned that they go down…. then next season wow everyone and come back up and get 10 million but where does that money go ? where did the last payment go, price of tickets still went up. Glad I am not a footie fan but do have an idea of what is going on.

Absolutely so Roman the Centurion, who also battles non-stop ‘and puts in a shift’. (I added that just to make our ‘nearly in the Black Country’ mates happy). I spoke to Roman Bednar when I attended a training session and he comes across as a great bloke, big, tall handsome fellow, although I’ve never met anyone before who speaks without moving his lips! Just the man for the Stoke battle to come.

3 Carole.
Don’t worry about knowing little about football, you’re in good company on here. Your ill informed generalities mirror many others comments.
On the article, I’ve got to agree with Cyril, Roman may not be our most skilful striker but you always know he’s there. For me it would always be Bednar plus one other.

I’m fed up with international breaks. To be honest I don’t really care very much about the ‘England’ football team any more. They’re about as far removed from the likes of Tom Finney, Alan Ball and Billy Wright as it can get. Most of the players are more interested in their own finances than their country.
If the Albion, Wolves, Blues or even the Villa to a certain extent should get a young player good enough to play for England, he’ll never become a regular unless he joins MU or Liverpool.
The FA sold the supporters down the river by insisting that the NATIONAL stadium had to be in London, meaning that the capacity was restricted, the parking restricted, supporters in the North have little opportunity to get to midweek games and if they did wouldn’t get tickets because the exhorbitant cost of keeping it in London has meant them selling ‘season tickets’ to fat cat Londoners and corporate hospitality.
The people that run our football are killing it in their sickening quest for more and more filthy lucre. I wouldn’t be sorry to see the ‘Euro super league’ take off and get rid of the ‘big four.’ Yes we may lose the glamour clubs, possibly Sky TV money, the big name foreigners, the billionaire owners. But what would we gain in return? A league where anyone could compete, cup competitions that mattered to clubs again and dare I say it, players who we could feel that we have some sort of connection to.
Rant over. As they say, better out than in.
