Nuneaton enjoyed some early attacks and skipper Peter Noon was set up by former Scholar Paul Spacey, but sent his shot high over the bar.

Boro’ continued to pepper the Chasetown goal with attacks in the opening minutes, Vaughan Thomas doing well to block a shot on six minutes, with Robert Oddy’s follow-up stopped by keeper Ryan Price.

Gary Birch then forced Acton into a fine save with a hard shot from the edge of the area, but play soon moved up to the other end again with the home defence denying David Blenkinsopp on the half hour.

Birch then went close with a header but Acton was again on hand.

After 34 minutes, Storer found a gap in the home defence and made his way through to slot home and put Boro’ ahead.

Chasetown tried their hardest to fight back with two quick corners, Richard Teesdale heading the second over the bar.

In the second half, Dean Perrow then tried to charge onto a cross but Acton beat him to it.

The Scholars then made a triple change to their attack as they began to push harder.

Chasetown pushed as hard as they could and in the 89th minute were awarded a penalty, after Smith was hauled down by Guy Hadland.

Smith got up and smashed the spot-kick into the centre of the net as Acton dived to his right.
