Sandra Andrews made her latest trip for a game of bingo hoping that her numbers would come up and she might be in for a good night.

But she thought HER number was up when she suffered a massive heart attack during the interval at the Mecca hall in Brierley Hill.

The mother-of-one, aged 56, has never enjoyed much luck at bingo but she was very fortunate that off-duty paramedic Lee Farley went quickly to her aid.

Now recovering at home in Ferndale Crescent, Franche, Kidderminster, Mrs Andrews reckons she owes her life to Mr Farley who works for West Midlands Ambulance Service based at The Waterfront, Brierley Hill.

She said: “If it wasn’t for him I don’t think I would be here, it’s as simple as that. He literally saved my life.”

There was a bingo player who scooped £24,000 who claimed she was the luckiest person in the hall but Mrs Andrews reckons she was definitely the luckiest person that night.

Mr Farley, aged 32, who lives in Foxfoot Drive, Brierley Hill, said: “She had no pulse and I had to start resuscitation, it was a race against time and I did think Sandra was going to die, because normally at that stage it’s game over.”
