Sylvan races to partner the Hare
Thursday 26th March 2009, 11:15AM GMT.
Top scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is relishing Marlon Harewood adding “extra bite” to the Wolves promotion surge over the final six games of the season.
The 24-goal hitman reckons Harewood’s recruitment from his permanent station on the Villa substitutes’ bench could be the signing that clinches Wolves’ return to the Premier League in the next few weeks.
He will get an earlier-than-expected opportunity to link up with Harewood, when the players not involved in internationals return to training after a short break.
Ebanks-Blake will be among them as he continues a 10-day fitness fight to face Birmingham a week on Monday, having returned from England Under-21 duty because of a calf strain.
The man whose goals have been a constant source of comfort for Wolves during a gruelling Championship slog is optimistic he will be fit – and ready to strike up a new partnership with Harewood.
Ebanks-Blake said: “If I were a manager and a player like Marlon became available I’d bring him in to help the team.
“It’s all about the team – we’ve all done our work this season but sometimes you need that fresh impetus, a new player to come in and help kick us along.
“The opportunity came up to sign Marlon, the manager jumped at it and I think it’s a great move.
“I’m sure Marlon will work hard and earn the right to be involved over the final six games.
“He’ll add some freshness and some bite up front. He’s proven at this level – and above – and I’m looking forward to working with him.
“Hopefully he can hit the ground running and help us.”
Ebanks-Blake had hoped to celebrate his 23rd birthday this weekend with another England Under-21 cap but the injury he sustained in training on Monday put paid to that.

Harewood is a quality addition and hopefully he can score a few and be here next season
Report abuse
how can he play for the under 21′s and yet be 23 at the weekend?
The average points over the last 10 years to win the Championship is 95 ranging from 81 last year to Sunderland with 105 in 98/99.
During those 10 years, 8 different teams have won the title ( Sunderland have won it 3 times ). Of those 8 teams, 5 are still in the Prem so those of you who think that if we go up we will automatically come straight down should think again.
You may find this interesting or deadly boring but we need something to think about in this long wait for THE game of the season.
Looking forward to seeing the two of them together.
A really powerful front line with pace to burn and both with tremendous goalpower as well, love CI but feel that Marlon is definitely a stronger finisher and CI does give away to many fouls so the ball doesn’t get held up…
Here’s wishing Wolves team, staff and supporters the best for the rest of the season..

3. Think they are allowed 2 over 21 players!!??

He was only training as part of the squad but the U21′s can use a certain number of over age players during a game. I don’t know exactly how it works but they can and that is why he was with them…just like Kightly has in the past.
cookie
because when then campaign started for their qualifiers, SEB was 21 and you can register them in the squad and still be able to play them when they get over the age of 21.
He can play for the U21s as when qualifying started he was 21, so even though he is over that age by the finals he can still play.
Harewood is a good addition and I think with SEB they could be pretty lethal.
If Harewood plays instead of Iwelumo who are we going to hoof the ball up to??
Get this muppet in the reserves along with his mates Quashie and Reid and lovechildren Ward, Keogh and Collins.
No doubt Thick Mick has a square peg lined up for the Blues game involving Ward in a stupid position.
How two faced am I ??? I have allways slagged players off in the past when they have made excuses for not playing for their country,,thinking I would play for England with a broken leg…At this moment in time I dont care about the England under 21s,,,Sylvan can do no wrong,I know he will be fit for the Blue noses, thats all I care about..Two faced??too right I am.
Bob Baggie, you are such an amateur at this. Why don’t you learn from the Master aka Terry who fishes here every day, catches plenty but still has respect from us all.
3 – 6, stubbz is correct, however you are also allowed to continue playing for the U21′s if you played in a qualifier before you turned 22.

number 1, total drivel, SEB or any striker wouldn’t score if they didn’t get the service from other players in the TEAM, thats the important word my friend TEAM !!
I for 1 would play the Hare with SEB for the rest of the season as I think they would run defences ragged.
Oooooh, looks like Bob wolf couldnt get the pages unstuck in his favourite “magazine”, still spouting his miserable views! must be all that pent up frustration, not getting much , obviously!
Lets look forward to a great run-in and the party v Doncaster in the sun!!!! Hopefully bobwolf might’ve got a lady by then and may have lightened up !!!!!
10 Bob Wolf – I usually get rather depressed reading your posts, but this one I actually found quite funny. Intentional?
12. Malvern…spot on my friend. This Bob Wolf is not only the supporter of a different team but he’s on a different planet !! His name is not worthy of being mentioned on the same page as that of the Master Angler Terry !!
Glad to see you’re still around – not many of the ‘old’ regulars seem to be these days.
1. I don’t agree with that, even if he isn’t fit I think we can still beat the blues without him, we have enough firepower still, harewood, iwelumo, vokes and keogh and don’t forget kightly and even Jarvo if he’s fit. Keep in a positive frame of mind as we are not a 1 player team
Report abuse
1- didnt we beat the Blouse without SEB last time in the cup????
As for why he is in the squad. He was 21 when the qualifing started! There is 12 people in the squad above 21!
nige..wwfc – the party is happening at Derby or Barnsley. At home people will still moan about something
Report abuse
17 nige..wwfc
The only way that would happen would be if the lady’s name was Ward Keough-Collins.
I think talk about ‘square pegs’ may also point to a further problem.
I know that wolves ay i !! but the mol is the best place to party isnt it ??? stuff the whingers my friend, they will NEVER spoil our celebrations!!!!
If we can avoid a defeat at the Blues, then we will be in a great position, its definately ours to lose now.
Fingers crossed and behind the team all the way too the finish.
The harewood loan signing is a very good thing not only for our push, but for E-banks blake to learn something different from a proven striker!!
The more you learn the better you become. Harewood dont forget is coming from Villa who are doing very well, who have good prem strikers and like MM stated a few days ago harewood has something to prove!!
Have some faith.
Hi Filton, nice to hear from you too. Just 6 games to go and victory in our next one will almost do it for us. I hope we can meet one day either at the Mol or as guests of our friends on the other side.
Wolfy is back!
calling him the hare, more like a tortoise!
we all know about the slow, but maybe he will be steady?
Ah bob, why do so many ppl think you are a baggie when you are at every wolves game, obviously most of them never go, these so called armchair fans!
Loved the 4mill loss, will get even worse next year, seen as we wont be able to get rid of the players that are on 4 year contract extensions who arent good enough for the prem!
roll on when we have a manager who knows what he is doing!
You know Bob Wolf, all i am going to say is your are not an idiot, but you are a very ignorant man.
Ignorant in terms of you lack actual knowledge on your comments (to sound stupid) and by commenting with blatant ignorance as you do shows you lack true care for this club, lack the heart to show compassion towards players which we call our own and lack in decency to admit when you are wrong with your comments.
Bob Wolf, you just simply do this to be a wind up, well congratulations in achieving your life’s aim of being the public clown, cause Bob, not even you at this stage could moan how this season has gone, and yet you do!
This simply shows the petulant and ignorant man you are.
and just when we thought we were dealing with just 1 clown……out pops Baggy in Wolfs clothing…….oh i mean wolfy in disguise! ;)

28,
Don’t want to get into an argument with you, but could you qualify how McCarthy doesn’t know what he is doing when we have been top of the league all season, now I’m not a massive McCarthy fan myself, but you have to give credit where it is due.
And why so negative all of the time, you or Bob never seem to be balanced in your views.
I mean how can you ‘love’ a £4 m loss??
28 Top of the league Eat that!!!
ah dublin wolves,
all i am going to say is how wise a man you are,
Lets just see how much money mick is given to bolster up the squad over the summer, and see how long he lasts,
The fans will be calling for his head after 8 games, its always the way!
I for one hope that i am wrong, all wolves fans have been waiting years for this chance, we have some decent playes, a manager who kinda knows what he is doing (bar collins, keough, ward etc) and hopefully an owner who will let him spend to keep us up.
Wolfy – good to hear from you. Perhaps ‘we can meet one day either at the Mol or as guests of our friends on the other side’!!!!
Dublin Wolf – you really are a prize muppet. How this is a good signing is beyond me!! Harewood has never done it at a high level, isn’t match fit and won’t ‘put a good shift in’. I’d rather have Keogh up front than this donkey.
Harewood has been bought in to do the job that Iwelomo did befoe his form took a disasterous dip after that miss for the Jocks. Up to that point the Wolves were sweeping all before them with the Seb-Big Chris partnership. I think Mick is trying to replicate this for the run in. I hope Chris features at some stage as it is a team effort so far, and that includes Collins and Keogh for all you snipers out there!!!
Wolfy, he has simply got us top of the league, I for one will be calling for his head should he blow it from here, but he isn’t (at the moment!) we ARE top and we do look like going up.
Look we all had a moan in the summer at the 4 year deal for Collins, but Collins can and will be sold when we go up (we all know he will as he is 4/5th choice now!)
Keogh barely gets a start when our first 2 are on form, and he is even further down now with Harewood.
Ward has done superbly this season at left back, and lets not forget he has been carrying an injury all season long (tendonitis isnt it!?)
All in all, I really can not see any justification on the complaining!
Lets not forget, it was Mick that signed Blake, Iwelumo, Berra, Foley, Jones, Kightly (know his assistant advised tho on this one), Jarvis to name but a few.
So his poor signing are well outweighed by the good ones.
I too hope your slattings are wrong, cause surely…. and i ask you and Bob this Wolfy, surely you actually want us to do well dont you?? or would you prefer us to do crap so you can just say I told you so???
Bob, and you have seen his medical report yeah???
And wait a minute……..since when we were NOW playing in the top league????
He HAS proved himself at the 2nd tier…..which is what we are still playing …….arent we????
Bob and Wolfy. Talk about not giving the lad a chance.
You the same people that slated MM for signing Iwelumo who was an old neverwasbeen in the summer I bet?!?!
ah grace,
what is it with the english, can they not tell sarcasm anymore?
Of course i didnt love the 4mill loss, and i know that a lot of that was from buying players, but we sold a lot too.
Bad management in my eyes!
esp in the current economic climate, look at morgans old business!

Harewood scores 3 goals , 3 wining goals and it gets us promoted. £30m. spending £2m on him would be a good bye.
SEB and the Hare up front for the Blues game, and depending on who would be better equipped to make an impact with 20 minutes to go I am more than happy to see any of Keogh, CL or Vokes get on the park. UP THE WOLVES!
SEB fit or not, would be great if he is but we r not a 1 man team, we go to blues game with the attitude not to lose.
Wolfy
Ok I understand that, but I’m not sure what your point is.
The other thing is that the loss is from last season & has nothing to do with this one.
36,
I want us to do well!
Im not a told you so person!
There are issues, i just wish he would learn thats all!
Yes we are top, and we are very lucky to be there, brum and reading losing as many as we did in that bad run thats the only reason we are where we are,
Most people will now slate what i just said saying we are top cause of how many we have won, but we could have won the championship now if mick had picked the right team!
4 million loss and top of the league and set to make what…..60mil is it when you go up??
Wolfy…..is that SERIOUSLY what you call bad management.???!?!?!?!?!
Sounds a wise investment to me!

totally agree dublin wolf , wolfy in disguise and bobwolf are manic depressives, and as such love to wallow in despair , tragedy, gloom and doom and any thing negative , they must have saved the local psychiatric unit thousands of pounds in treatment fees , any way back to the real world , blouse 0 wwfc 2 , come on me babies
Report abuse
Wolfy – understand that Morgan’s former business has only gone into decline since he sold up. Now he sees it struggling, he is trying to regain a major shareholding to help put it right (and he will). This guy is no mug, unlike your best mate Bob. As for the Hare, he scored 22 goals for West Ham when they got promotion in ’04/’05 and then followed up with 16 the next season in the premiership, so not a bad return for a donkey eh? You and Bob should just hold hands and walk off into the sunset together, singing your song….moan when we’re winning, we even moan when we’re winning…….
4) You will probably find that 85 points will be enough this season. Any team can beat any other team in this division and therefore the points are shared around more.
I would play this team for the Blues – Hennessey Foley Craddock Berra Hill Kightly Henry Jones Jarvis Ebanks-Blake Harewood Subs: Stack Stearman Edwards Iwelumo Keogh
Beat the Noses and we are almost there.
FOR ALL THE DOOM AND GLOOMERS WE ARE GOING UP AND MM WILL BE CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER OF THE SEASON!
Bobwolf
What a prize plonker you are, I can’t believe you have the arrogance to suggest your comments are justified!! you always seem to moan about the bad signing’s MM has made but what about the young quality he has brought in, I won’t mention names cuz being such a wolves loving man you would know!lol, you are a disgrace!
I can remember Sir Alex Ferguson making a few bad signing’s a few years ago, do u remember kleberson, djemba djemba, taibi, bosnich, but at the end of the day any manager worth his salt outways the bad with the good and as far as I can see Mick has done that. Back to Sandwell you go muppet!
Wolfy, if you are not a so called told you so person, then you really shouldnt be saying roll on when we get a manager who knows what he is doing.
This really does indicate you ARE waiting for us to fail, and WILL say i told you so.
and this crap we are top cause of other teams failing, thats crap! we stayed top cause of the excellent form we had in the first half of the season. This form meant we could afford our lul and get away with it. We were just more clinical in our good patch than the 2 other teams were. cause everyones bad patches are the same, just no wins!
Wolfy, I would also like to ask, where does he pick the wrong team?? you cant say S ward at left wing cause he has only played the last 2 games there along with the first 70 minutes in the first game of the season.
So really, where did MM pick the wrong team and in which games??
I’d play Marlon against the Blues, being a Villa man he might feel he has a point to prove. Regarding the Blues game a draw would be a great result but we should look to win the game, the Cup asides its something we have not done (win) against them for a while.
28. Albion fan. Whats there to moan about?
Mick has learnt from his season with Sunderland, given no money but yet Keane was given 50mil? I would happily give Mick 10mil lookmat who he already brought to the club. Berra was a very shrewd piece of business, clean sheets are our game now!

So the wolves made a 4 million loss, did you not read the details , 3 million was used to write off debts, and 1.5million to buy SEB ( who is now worth at least 7 million). That looks good business sense to me or are you from some remote school of economics based in Sandwell.
The Hare up front againt The Blouse? I don’t think so. Possibly for a couple of games, he’s an impact player who can come on for the last 25 mins, lack of football means he won’t be ready for the full 90.
Also, 4 wins out of 5 means the lads are doing ok. Why would you change a winning team?

Calum Davenport and Danny Gabbidon from Westham. If Newcastle go down like Alan Smith to be made club captain, he is a passionate player. Middlesbrough would like to see us get Wheater and Adam Johnson possibly Justin Hoyte. Albion maybe Olsson? Jason Scotland from swansea? Two great loan signings would be Nicky Shorey and the lad from Spurs, they signed from rangers for 8mil cant think of his name but he is in their reserves? Also Gareth Bale loan? Loads of players out there we could get. The albion must be envious they signed Scott ‘calamity’ Carson!
