Moxey: Molineux future is golden

Wednesday 25th March 2009, 1:15PM GMT.

Wolves chief executive Jez MoxeyWolves’ chief executive Jez Moxey today hailed the strides the club has taken both on and off the field over the past year.

The Championship leaders recorded a loss of more than £4m last season but with turnover up £2.3m to £18.1m and Mick McCarthy’s side close to sealing promotion to the Premier League, Moxey is more than happy with the last year’s work at Molineux.

“Mick McCarthy’s young squad was enhanced with a number of additions, including our now top goal scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who picked up the Football League Golden Boot award in his first season with the club,” said Moxey.

“Our young players, many of whom have come from the lower divisions, have benefitted from Championship games and the team has been given valuable time to develop. This has only been possible because of the fantastic backing of our supporters.

“We currently sit at the top of the Championship.

“However, there is still a long way to go and the club will continue to take one game at a time between now and the end of the season. The club has also made significant steps forward off the field. We have secured the coveted Football League Family Excellence Award and subsequently we have been nominated for the ‘Family Club of the Year’ (Championship) and ‘Community Club of the Year’ (Championship) accolades in the annual Football League Awards.

“This is very positive external recognition and I’d like to thank everyone associated with the club, staff and supporters, for their crucial role in this success.”
