Sir Jack liner is netted

Wolves president Sir Jack Hayward’s luxury liner broke down with engine problems after becoming entangled with fishing nets.

Sir Jack’s six-star 670ft Regent Seven Seas Voyager is having to chug along at 12 knots, a little faster than a windsurfer after being entangled near Penang, Malaysia.

Sir Jack, 85-year-old life president of Wolves, is taking friends, including the club’s vice-president Rachael Heyhoe Flint, 69, and husband Derrick, on a cruise from Singapore to Dubai. His wife Jean is at the family home in the Bahamas.

Speaking from her suite on the ship, Mrs Heyhoe Flint said: “We are going very slowly but we’re having a fabulous time.” Sir Jack sold Wolves for £10 in August 2007 to Steve Morgan. Wolves spokesman Matt Grayson wished them a safe journey home.
