Cheggers turns out for saint
Tuesday 24th March 2009, 9:53PM GMT.
Madcap TV presenter Keith Chegwin will be leading the family fun to mark St George’s Day in Sandwell.
Cheggers will be chatting with the crowds at West Bromwich’s Dartmouth Park on April 18.
A medieval living encampment will feature St George on horseback, a crusader boat, skills at arms demonstrations and a medieval foot soldier tournament.
There will also be jousting with mounted knights, cooking demonstrations and bread making as well as the chance to have a go at archery.
Sandwell Council leader Councillor Bill Thomas said: “We are absolutely delighted that Keith Chegwin has agreed to support the St George’s Day celebrations in the park.”
The Stone Cross St George’s Day parade will take place on April 19 and will end in Dartmouth Park.

Don’t forget Sandwell Council changed the day of the funday from Sunday to Saturday so they could ban the march. Everyone should stay away on the Saturday and turn up for the march on the Sunday.
Also don’t forget when the local elections are due remember the councillors who wanted to ban the St Georges Day Parade.
